National Democratic Party president Martin Lukato says Namibia has lost a brave liberation icon that never wavered, from the time of the liberation struggle and beyond.
Lukato said this on Desert FM as Namibia plunged into mourning following the death of founding president Sam Nujoma late Saturday night.
“When I heard the bad news this morning it was very sad because the freedom fighter who stood bravely and sacrificed his entire life for Namibia has indeed left us. It is unfortunate. He was a fighter who freed Namibia,” he said.
The upcoming parliamentarian said he never expected anything worse after Nujoma was hospitalised.
“When I heard he had been hospitalised, I did not expect he would die. I was expecting that since he was in a stable condition he would get better,” he said.
