CASTLE Brewing Namibia late last week gave an amount of N$325 000 to the country’s national football team, to enable them to participate in a first round match of the Cosafa Castle Cup tournament in Angola next Sunday.

The money will cover player’s allowances, accommodation and air travel for the team, while they also received training and match kits from the company. Castle Brewing Namibia’s Managing Director Cobus Bruwer at the handing over on Thursday night, said the company has always regarded football as an important part of the lives of Namibians.And against this background, the company has been involved in sponsorship activities for many years, from sponsoring the Brave Warriors to running the Castle Friendship League, he said.”Soccer is the greatest of our games and our involvement at a national level is testimony of our desire to contribute to the development of the game in the country,” he said.He said the way to success is trough discipline, hard work and a desire to the best.”This is the spirit that has made the Cosafa Castle Cup and the Brave Warriors a success.Namibia has played twice in the final of the competition and has once also reached the semi-final stages.NamibiaFootball Association executive member Juliene Garises expressed appreciation on the money availed by the company, promising that results will be in the offing if such contributions are made.She said the spirit in the team was high and they they performance of late has also shown that they are destined for greater things in the future.This year’s competition sees some new developments with regard to incentives.The winning team receives N$550 000, while the runner-up gets N$ 280 000.A total amount of N$145 000 will be given to the semi-final losers, while the first round losers will bounce-out with an amount of N$80 000 each.Any team that scores more than three goals in a single match will receive an additional N$10 000 to their prize money.Any player scoring more than five goals in the course of the whole competition will receive N$25 000.The Man of the Match prize has gone up from N$1 000 to N$2 000.Castle Lager has also announced an international media competition in the participating countries that will see the finest radio, photography and print journalist winning N$12 000 in each respective category.Castle Brewing Namibia has launched the Castle Lager Cash Kick Off competition for the Brave Warriors supporters.Consumers of the beer with ‘winning cards’ which are available in all leading social outlets are awarded an instant prize and could also enter the lucky draw to stand a to win U$1 000 just prior to each Cosafa Castle Cup game.In addition to this, one lucky supporter will according to Bruwer stand a chance to go to the second leg of the finals on an all expense paid trip together with a friend or partners.The winning Namibian supporter, competing against the winning supporters of other Cosafa countries
