Selma Kamanya, Miss World Namibia 2025, has arrived in Telangana where she will participate in the upcoming Miss World 2025 pageant.
The pageant’s 72nd edition will be held at the HITEX Exhibition Centre in India on 31 May. Krystyna Pyszková of the Czech Republic will crown her successor at the end of the event.
Kamanya said she sees participating in Miss World as another personal challenge.
During her reign as Miss Namibia in 2018, she represented Namibia at the Miss Universe pageant, which she described as an incredible experience.
“While I didn’t compete at Miss World, I felt that Miss Universe was the right platform for me to showcase my potential and work on my advocacy. Now, I’m excited to represent Namibia at Miss World and take on this new challenge. I have always been passionate about using platforms to advocate for causes that are close to my heart, and Miss World offers a unique opportunity to do so on a global scale,” she said.
Kamanya said the public can expect her to give her absolute best in every aspect of the competition.
“I’m not just here to showcase my beauty and talents, but also to advocate for the issues I care about. My goal is to represent Namibia with pride, grace and a commitment to making a sustainable impact. Miss World is the oldest and one of the most prestigious beauty pageants in the world. It focuses on beauty with a purpose, which aligns with my values. The platform it provides to empower women and advocate for important causes is something I deeply resonate with. It’s about more than just outer beauty – it’s about making a lasting impact,” she said.
Kamanya said that, as Miss World Namibia, she aims to mainly focus on two initiatives – agriculture and mental health awareness.
“I plan to focus on two initiatives namely, sustainable agriculture – capacitating the nation to grow their own food as well teaching them about nutrition – in addition to that, addressing mental health awareness [and] empowering young people to break the stigma surrounding mental health and mental illness. As Miss World Namibia, I want to provide a platform for these important conversations and create lasting change in the lives of those who need it most,” Kamanya said.
Kamanya expressed her gratitude for the support she had received from everyone throughout her journey thus far. She said she is honored to represent Namibia on the Miss World stage and is eager to share her experiences with everyone.
