Two Namibian volleyball officials have received sponsorships to attend an African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) symposium in Dakar, Senegal, next week.
Volleyball referee Ndina Kasheeta received a sponsorship of N$21 350 from DTS Club’s beach volleyball section to cover her air fare to attend an international referee candidate course, while the Lück family contributed an extra N$10 000 to cover accommodation and catering during her stay.
The course, which will be held from 6 to 14 August in collaboration with the CAVB Beach Volleyball Youth Development Cup in Dakar, will bring together referee candidates from multiple African countries to support the growth of beach volleyball and the integrity of competitions throughout the continent.
Kasheeta already attended and successfully completed a similar course in August 2025 in Banjul, The Gambia, and is one of only two Namibian referees qualified to officiate in continental and international competitions.
Participating in such courses enhances Namibia’s profile and credibility with CAVB and International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) networks.
“We support Ndina, because she is one of the driving forces for high-standard beach volleyball in the country. She is committed to improve her level of officiating wherever she can, is involved in referee and volleyball development, and has made the effort to attend lots of national and international competitions over the past years. This helps to keep our local competitions on a high level and bring the sport forward in general,” DTS beach volleyball vice chairperson Simone von Wietersheim says.
Teja Lueck adds: “We need people like her to develop our sport, on club and national level. Ndina is determined and eager to make beach volleyball a recognised and successful sport in Namibia. That’s why we, as a family who has beach volleyball close to our hearts, gladly back and support her.’’
Namibia Volleyball Federation (NVF) president Tobias Mwatelulo, who was also present at the handover ceremony, states: “DTS Beach Volleyball’s investment in the referee attending the international referee candidate course is a landmark for the sport.
“Their commitment to developing technical officials aligns perfectly with the NVF’s vision of building international excellence. We sincerely thank DTS for making this milestone possible.”
Kasheeta says she is overjoyed.
“I am lost for words and at the same time excited. To the Lück family and to DTS, I would love to deeply thank you and I appreciate what you are doing for volleyball in the country. This is not just for me, but for beach volleyball in Namibia,” she says.
ISHITILE TO ATTEND COACHING SEMINAR
Volleyball coach Alosius Ishitile, meanwhile, received a sponsorship of N$35 350 from the Namibia Beach Volleyball Hub to attend a CAVB high performance seminar for beach volleyball coaches in Dakar.
The sponsorship covers the CAVB registration fee, return airfare from Namibia to Dakar, accommodation, meals, local transportation, visa-related expenses, vaccination and travel insurance, ensuring that Ishitile can focus fully on what he does best: learning, leading and lifting the game.
The seminar will bring together coaches from across the African continent to exchange experiences, absorb advanced technical knowledge and strengthen the coaching structures that carry beach volleyball forward.
For Namibia, it is a direct connection to the continental high-performance network, and a statement that the country’s coaches belong on that stage.

This opportunity is not only for my personal growth as a coach. The knowledge and experience gained will be shared with athletes and coaches to support the continued development of beach volleyball in Namibia,” he says.
