MEN must join hands to fight the evils of violence and abuse in Namibian society, says the organisation Namibian Men for Change.
In a media statement released by the organisation, it is condemning continuing acts of violence and abuse which men are committing against women and children in Namibia, and calls on men who are prone to such behaviour ‘to report for treatment and repentance’.Men who make themselves guilty of violence, brutality and abusive behaviour are sick and are offending humanity with their behaviour, and they have to be given ‘proper and tough corrections’, the organisation comments. It applauds the severe sentence of 55 years’ imprisonment imposed on Keetmanshoop child rapist and killer Easter Michael Rooy in the High Court in Windhoek last week.’Namibian Men for Change is calling on men and boys of good, clean, healthy and compassionate hearts to join hands and forces together in the fight against evils in our society, (to) be part of a healing solution in order to contribute to a violence-free Namibia,’ reads the statement, signed by the organisation’s chairman, Reverend Ngeno Nakamhela.
