Mirny, Sakha Republic, Russia, November 14, 2013.

The police at Ariamsvlei on Saturday arrested two men, aged 55 and 48, who were allegedly in possession of unpolished diamonds.

//Kharas crime investigations coordinator deputy commissioner Nicodemus Mbango on Monday said the men were arrested around 19h00 on Saturday at the Ariamsvlei border post.

It is alleged that the suspects, who were travelling from South Africa to Namibia, were found in possession of 204 objects suspected to be unpolished diamonds after they were searched at the point of entry.

Mbango said the duo was arrested with 32 “white objects” and 172 “black objects”.

The value of the items is still to be determined.

The men have been charged with the possession of unpolished diamonds and are expected to appear in the Ariamsvlei Periodical Court.
