Two arrested in separate drug busts

Two men were arrested in separate undercover police operations at Rehoboth’s Block E residential area on Tuesday in connection with the possession of illegal substances.

In the first incident, a Namibian man (26) was arrested after he was allegedly found in possession of 10 parcels of cannabis skunk weighing 10g with an estimated street value of N$500.

According to a police report issued on Tuesday, the drugs were confiscated at the scene of the arrest.

In a separate incident on the same day, also at Rehoboth’s Block E, another man (24) was arrested after he allegedly attempted to dispose of drugs in a rubbish bin upon noticing an undercover officer.

The police reported that the suspect tried to flee the scene but was apprehended.

He was found in possession of 16 bankies of cannabis skunk in zip-lock bags, seven ballies of cannabis skunk wrapped in newspaper, five full mandrax tablets, and cash amounting to N$120, suspected to be the proceeds of crime.

The total value of the seized items is estimated at N$1 850, and all items were confiscated.

Both cases involve charges under the Abuse of Dependence-Producing Substances and Rehabilitation Centres Act, with the second suspect also facing an additional charge of defeating or obstructing the course of justice.

Police investigations into both incidents continue.
