TURA Magic took a big step towards promotion to the MTC Premiership when they beat Monitronic College 3-2 in a Southern Stream First Division match on Sunday.

The victory put them at the top of the log on 49 points, with one match remaining. The only other team that can possibly overtake them is Hotspurs, who are second on 47 points with a game in hand.Monitronic College took the lead through striker Stephen Kahondo when he scored from a corner shortly before halftime.Monitronic College were dealt a blow just before the break when Tafadzwa Mvura was sent off for a second yellow card and Tura Magic’s numerical advantage started to count in the second half.Striker Ricardo Kandjiriomuini equalised on 56m, heading in from a corner, but Monitronic College once again restored their lead when Kahondo volleyed home a cross from a counterattack on 63m.Tura Magic attacked relentlessly in the final stages. Alfeus Handura stabbed home the equaliser from a freekick on 69m, before Tiberius Lombard headed home the winner from a Friday Samu cross three minutes later.On Saturday, Tura Magic beat Friends 4-0 while Monitronic College beat Unam 1-0.Hotspurs maintained their pressure on Tura Magic with a 2-0 victory against Spoilers on Sunday.Both goals came in quick succession in the second half, with Victor Blaauw scoring on 63m while Richard Kavendji added the second goal three minutes later. On Saturday Hotspurs beat Swakopmund 2-1.Tura Magic have one match remaining, against Unam on Sunday, May 22, while Hotspurs have two matches remaining. They play Unam on Saturday, May 21 and Young Ones the next day.United Stars are meanwhile leading the Northern Stream First Division, although they have played significantly more matches than their rivals.They lead the log with 44 points from 19 matches, while Rundu Chiefs are second on 37 from 19 matches. They are followed by Golden Bees on 33 points from 18 matches and Golden Bigs on 31 points from 19 matches.In matches last weekend, United Stars picked up two victories against beat Epupa (2-0) and Onambula (5-2).
