Emotions took over at the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court on Friday afternoon during a brief adjournment in the bail hearing of murder accused Petrus Shikwaya.
The court adjourned for five minutes to allow alleged mastermind Abner Mateus to wash his face.
Mateus is testifying in the bail application of his nephew and co-accused, Shikwaya.
According to the state, Mateus instructed Shikwaya to send N$1 200 to Petrus Uusiku to buy acid allegedly used in the attack that led to the death of prosecutor Justine Shiweda.
During the adjournment, one of Shiweda’s sisters attempted to confront Mateus while he was seated outside the courtroom.
Police officers and family members intervened and prevented her from reaching him.
“He killed my sister for nothing,” she said as officers restrained her.
