Miss Namibia 2012 was crowned at the Windhoek Country Club Resort and Casino on Saturday evening, in front of a capacity crowd that included Minister of Justice, Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana, patron of the pageant.
The show kicked off with a lively performance by the latest music sensation, MasZanga, and a dance by the Top 15 finalists, clothed in vibrant pink, traditional odhelela outfits by Cathy Tshikesho of Urban Glam. The pageant also included performances by Dice, Miss Jey, Benjex, Devon, the South African ballet troupe, Bovim Ballet and Lize Ehlers and Percival Rinquest, who started the show by singing the national anthem. The finalists modelled cocktail dresses from Anjo, before the awards for Miss Personality, Miss Photogenic and the public’s choice were announced. The beautiful Claudia Haipya was voted Miss Personality, while Ottilie Ambata took the Miss Photogenic award and Wilna Konjore was voted the public’s choice.Swimwear by Dax Martin by Anjo was showcased by the Top 15 before the announcement of the Top 10, who modelled evening gowns by local designer, Cobus Moller and South African designer, Ian West. The top five finalists were selected with Patricia Hanstein, Maria Nepembe, Monique Peters, Wilna Konjre and Tsakana Nkandi making it to the second last stage of the pageant. The judges question session followed before the evening reached the end stages and Monique Peters was crowned second princess, Patricia Hanstein first princess and Tsakana Nkandi – Miss Namibia 2012.
