Toddler dies in hut fire in Kavango West

A two-year-old boy died in a fire that destroyed a hut at a village in the Kavango West region on Wednesday.

The child was identified as Stanisius Muhanga.

The hut allegedly caught fire while his parents were not home.

Police chief inspector Raimbeth Muronga, who confirmed the incident, said at the time of the incident the boy was with two other children, aged six, who both escaped unharmed.

“The incident allegedly happened when the children wanted to cook while their parents were not present,” Muronga said.

The police are investigating the matter.
