Titans set for collission in Women’s Super League

WOMEN’S Super League log leaders Okahandja Beauties and the Jacqueline Shipanga Academy go head to head in what is expected to be the match of the season on Sunday.

The match kicks off at 10h00 at the NFA Technical Centre adjacent to Soccer House. The JS Academy make their return to action in the Super League after three weeks off due to most of their players being away on national duty in Germany. Okahandja Beauties’ compressive 23-0 win over Challengers two weeks ago stretched their lead at the top to four points over their rivals. However the leaders – on 34 points for the season – have a real match on their hands against the Academy who led the log up until the three week break. The Academy are three points behind of Beauties in second spot, with two games in hand.Beauties have made several signings ahead of Sunday’s clash, including tough tackling defender and former captain of Brave Gladiators Helvi Eliakim as well as midfield maestro Maureen Cooper. JS academy have also been boosted by the return of Zenata Coleman and the left-footed striking boot of Vistoria Shaangula. The 20-year-old bulky Shaangula from Okahao in the Omusati Region is fast developing into a formidable striking option for both club and country. The match also pits the leagues top scorers against one another. Beauties have the upper hand on this front as Kleintjie Fredericks leads the charts with an astounding 35 goals while teammate Juliana Skrywer is second with 28 followed by Coleman in third on 19 goals. In other weekend matches, on Saturday the Academy will take on the 21 Brigade United at 10h00 at the NFA Technical Centre and at 11h50, it will be Challengers host Beauties looking to avoid a repeat of the 23-0 hammering. On Sunday, 21 Brigade United will take on Challengers at 11h50. Third-placed Poly Babes and fourth-placed UNAM will not be in action this weekend as most of their players are part of the TISAN ladies soccer team that will be competing in the CUCSA Games starting in Windhoek on Sunday.
