Three die in Zambezi crash

Three people died in an accident in the Zambezi region after the vehicle they were travelling in were involved in a head-on collision with a truck on the Trans-Zambezi Highway on Saturday.

Zambezi regional police commander commissioner Julia Sakuwa-Neo says the accident took place at the Chetto area at around 00h15.

She says a station wagon carrying seven people was travelling to Katima Mulilo while a truck with three people was headed to Walvis Bay.

“Due to the head-on collision, the station wagon overturned, resulting in the death of three people at the scene, three sustained serious injuries, and one sustained minor injuries. The driver of the truck, who is a Zambian national, sustained minor injuries, and the two Zambian passengers did not sustain any injuries,” she says.

Sakuwa-Neo says the names of the deceased are being withheld because their families have not been notified.

One man and two women died.
