Theme of state funeral befitting to Geingobs legacy

Founding president of Namibia Sam Nujoma, in a statement delivered by Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, said the theme of the state funeral is befitting for president Hage Geingob as a man who advocated for the country’s unity.

The theme of the state funeral is: ‘Inclusivity spells harmony, exclusivity spells conflict’.

According to Nujoma, Geingob advocated for the county’s unity and reflected Namibia’s unique identity in terms of the different ethnic identities.

“He will be remembered as a unifier as he embodied politics that were not divisive and understood the immense power of unity,” said Nujoma.
He added that he first met Geingob in Kinshasa when he joined exile.

“I appointed him as a Swapo representative at the United Nations (UN) and he lobbied hard for the UN resolution in 1996. It was on my recommendation that Geingob was appointed as director at the UN in 1976,” said Nujoma.

He said he was not shocked when Geingob was elected as president because he was diligent and dedicated.

“Geingob taught us the importance of reason and arguments and the need to study not only those who you agree with but also those you do not agree with,” said Nujoma.

Additionally, he described Geingob as someone who was attentive and teachable.
