The City of Windhoek responds to you

* Lazy and incompetent staff in finance accounts division, not answering phones Thank you for bringing this to our attention. The matter is taken up and addressed internally in order to provide efficient and effective service to our valued customers. In future, kindly record date, time of call and extension dialled so that we can take appropriate action. Thanks once again.

* Why does the City estimate water bill while it employs officials who get paid to go and read the water meters? Thank you for the question. The first option is certainly to do the physical reading from the water meter. However, there are several reasons why the City resorts to estimates.* Inaccessibility to the property due to several reasons, locked gates, vicious dogs etc * Meter covered by building sand or sometimes water, like during rainy season * Meter not placed on routes * Problems with the system * When short of staff (holiday time) Estimating water consumption does not mean that the City robs its clients; the total amount estimated is being reversed when an actual reading is done.Alternatively there is an option to register as a self-reading client. For further detail on self-reading, kindly read the February edition of the City’s monthly newsletter.Clients may also contact the following numbers, 290 2135/2213,2566,2221.We appeal to the residents of the City to provide their co-operation and make it friendly for the City officials to enter their premises and do a physical meter reading.* Street lights in Olympus village, Olympia: The City of Windhoek wishes to thank the residents who took the time to inform the City about faults. The streetlights at the Olympus Village were investigated and repair work was done. The lights are now operating as they should.
