Nam Fashion Guru, a social media influencer platform that features fashion content, was launched recently.
The show is airs live monthly on Instagram, showcasing fashion personalities who share their experiences and life stories.
Vetjavi Pinias-Kauraisa, the managing director and content creator at Nam Fashion Guru, says the show was established to inspire and give knowledge to those keen on venturing into the fashion industry, especially the younger generation.
So far well-known names such as Varaakuani Hambira, Yana Haenisch and DjoDjo Bomassa have appeared on the platform, and Kauraisa says viewers can expect more guests such as models, fashion designers, fashion directors and make-up artists.
Kauraisa says for now the show might still be nascent, but they have plans to grow it.
“One of the biggest challenges in the Namibian fashion industry is access to inspiration and exposure for many fashion enthusiasts, as well as a lack of funds. By early 2021, we aim to start YouTube Fashion TV with content aired on YouTube, Instagram and Facebook,” Kauraisa says.
He also plans to launch a clothing brand and to appoint a brand ambassador by mid 2021.
While the Namibian fashion industry is still growing, Kauraisa believes each year is a stepping stone to that growth.
“Over the years we have seen many agencies and designers coming up, and many other fashion influence platforms that are willing to rise to challenges and come out shining,” Kauraisa says.
