The Admiral set to rise above Walvis Bay

A NEW shape is steadily making its way onto the Walvis Bay skyline.

The Admiral, Gondwana Collection Namibia’s new hotel on The Esplanade, is currently taking shape and is set to open its doors in December 2027.

When completed, it will be the tallest building in Walvis Bay, giving the coastal town a new landmark along its waterfront and offering views across the Flamingo Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean.

The 24-suite hotel, including three penthouses, has been designed to make the most of its coastal setting.

The suites are spacious and intended to feel more like private living spaces than traditional hotel rooms, with areas to relax, work and take in the surroundings.

The Admiral will cater to both leisure and business travellers, with a swimming pool, guest lounge and meeting spaces forming part of the hotel. Its location on The Esplanade also puts guests within easy reach of the harbour, airport and the many experiences that have made Walvis Bay and the surrounding coast a favourite for visitors in Namibia.

The building itself draws lightly on the character of its surroundings.

Clean, yacht-inspired lines reflect Walvis Bay’s strong connection to the ocean, while the design takes the town’s famously windy conditions into account.

Rather than trying to hide from the coast, The Admiral is being shaped around it.

For Walvis Bay, its arrival will be noticeable.

The town has always had a strong relationship with the sea, but soon there will be a new way to look back at that familiar coastline – from above it.

There is still some time before the doors open, but with construction underway, December 2027 is beginning to feel a little closer. Soon, The Admiral will be part of the Walvis Bay skyline – and, before long, it may be hard to imagine the waterfront without it.
