The Admiral: New Luxury Development Breaks Ground at Walvis Bay

Members of Gondwana and the Nexus teams at the groundbreaking at Walvis Bay.

The Admiral, a new luxury hotel on The Esplanade at Walvis Bay, broke ground on 10 April.

The development, which is part of the Gondwana Collection Namibia portfolio, promises to redefine high-end accommodation on Namibia’s coast.

Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the famous Flamingo Lagoon, The Admiral is expected to open in December 2027.

With quick access to the airport, harbour, and the famous Sandwich Harbour dunes, its location puts visitors in the heart of Walvis Bay’s activity hub.

Designed by Namibian architect Conrad Scheffer, the hotel is inspired by the sleek lines and elegance of luxury yachts. The innovative design will feature a distinctive wind-smart facade that accommodates the coastal climate while maximising the site’s uninterrupted panoramic views.

The Admiral will offer 24 spacious suites, including three penthouse suites. Floor-to-ceiling windows ensure every room opens onto uninterrupted views of the Atlantic Ocean and Flamingo Lagoon.

Technology will play a subtle but important role in the guest experience. Each suite will feature smart room technology, allowing guests to control lighting, climate, and entertainment effortlessly at the touch of a button.

Each suite has been carefully designed to give guests a complete living experience, incorporating a bedroom, lounge or office area, sun lounge, kitchenette, and a modern bathroom.

The Admiral will cater to both leisure and business travellers.

The hotel will have three multi-media meeting rooms, a swimming pool, and an elegant guest lounge that is both comfortable and stylish.

The Admiral reflects the continued evolution of Walvis Bay as a premium coastal destination and signals strong momentum for Namibia’s tourism industry.
