Teenager drowns at Okanjose village on Friday

A girl (15) drowned in a water pond at Okanjose village in the Kunene region on Friday afternoon.

This was confirmed in the weekend crime report by police spokesperson Kauna Shikwambi.

According to Shikwambi, the incident occurred at around 16h09 when the deceased, identified as Karikama Koruhama, was herding goats.

She had reportedly taken the animals to a natural reservoir in the nearby mountains for drinking when some of the goat kids strayed into the pond.

“In an attempt to prevent them from falling in, she allegedly slipped and fell into the water.

“Her body was later retrieved and her next of kin have been informed. Police investigations into the incident are continuing,” Shikwambi said.

In a separate incident, a man was allegedly stabbed during the early hours of Saturday in the Herero location of Okahandja.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 02h30 at an open space.

“It is alleged that the suspect stabbed the victim on the right side of the chest with a knife, causing a deep cut wound,” she said.

The police further reported that the victim was rushed to Okahandja State Hospital, where he is admitted in a critical but stable condition.

The suspect has been arrested, but the weapon used has not yet been recovered.
