TWO men appeared in the Khorixas Magistrate's Court yesterday for attempted murder after they allegedly assaulted a teenager who was visiting them on Sunday.
The two were remanded in custody to allow them to secure legal representation and for further police investigations.
The suspects, Menrose Ngatunjozi (32) and Papikie Ngatunjozi (26), assaulted Benzy Kepiue (18) on Sunday around 03h00 at Khorixas.
According to the Kunene regional police commander, commissioner James Nderura, "It is alleged that a fight broke out at the house whereby suspects beat up the victim with fists, iron rod, tied him with an electrical cable and poured hot water on him all over his body."
Nderura said the two allegedly hid the victim in the room without getting him medical help or alerting the police.
It is alleged the victim was assaulted for allegedly stealing a pocket WiFi gadget and food from the house and selling them.
The police got information from an informant and on visiting the house they found the victim in the room with a swollen face and burns all over the body.
"The police summoned an ambulance, which ferried the victim to the hospital where he is admitted and in a stable condition," Nderura told The Namibian.
Menrose also has a case of culpable homicide in which a small child was hit and killed at Khorixas by a vehicle he was driving earlier this year.
