Tax Updates: It is December, and there’s plenty of weddings around

It is common especially in the Oshiwambo culture that when there is a wedding – cattle are given to the family where there is a wedding.

So, if a person is a farmer – and is registered as such at the ministry of finance gives or donates a cattle, the Act states that such a person should be taxed on the value of the cattle he or she has given away.

This is included in schedule 1, paragraph 9 and we shall explain why this is so in the next update.
