NAMIBIAN swimmers failed to reach any finals on the second day of swimming at the All Africa Games in Algeria on Friday.

Jonay Briedenhann and Corinna Wahl both competed in Heat 2 of the women’s 50m butterfly event. Briedenhann finished sixth in a time of 31,05 seconds, which was outside her personal best of 31,97, while Wahl came seventh in 32,55, also outside her personal best of 31,97.Briedenhann and Ilka Preschel were also drawn together in Heat 3 of the women’s 200m freestyle event.Briedenhann came fourth in 2:17,21 which was quite outside her best time of 2:12,73, while Preschel came 7th in a time of 2:26,41, just outside her best time of 2:25,52.In the men’s 200m freestyle event, Quinton Delie came sixth in Heat 2 in a time of 2:06,40, which was outside his personal best of 2:03,43.In Heat 3 of the 200m freestyle, Tristan McDonald came sixth in a new personal best time of 2:08,01, which was a slight improvement on his previous best of 2:08,04.Stephan van Zijl came sixth in the men’s 400m individual medley in a new personal best time of 5:16,43, which was a big improvement on his previous best time of 5:37,08.Byron Briedenhann withdrew from the men’s 400m individual medley after being laid low by flu.Most of the swimmers, as well as boxer Japhet Uutoni are suffering from a flu virus, which has spread from the throat to the chest.Briedenhann finished sixth in a time of 31,05 seconds, which was outside her personal best of 31,97, while Wahl came seventh in 32,55, also outside her personal best of 31,97.Briedenhann and Ilka Preschel were also drawn together in Heat 3 of the women’s 200m freestyle event.Briedenhann came fourth in 2:17,21 which was quite outside her best time of 2:12,73, while Preschel came 7th in a time of 2:26,41, just outside her best time of 2:25,52.In the men’s 200m freestyle event, Quinton Delie came sixth in Heat 2 in a time of 2:06,40, which was outside his personal best of 2:03,43.In Heat 3 of the 200m freestyle, Tristan McDonald came sixth in a new personal best time of 2:08,01, which was a slight improvement on his previous best of 2:08,04.Stephan van Zijl came sixth in the men’s 400m individual medley in a new personal best time of 5:16,43, which was a big improvement on his previous best time of 5:37,08.Byron Briedenhann withdrew from the men’s 400m individual medley after being laid low by flu.Most of the swimmers, as well as boxer Japhet Uutoni are suffering from a flu virus, which has spread from the throat to the chest.
