Swartz River Bridge road near Osona closed after heavy rains

The Road Authority (RA) has temporarily closed the B1 Windhoek-Okahandja road at the Swartz River Bridge near Osona Village after sections of the road were washed away by recent heavy rains.

The RA in a statement on Wednesday informed the public of the incident, citing significant water damage, adding that the road will be closed until further notice.

“The affected section of the road is closed to traffic with immediate effect and until further notice, in the interest of public safety,” the statement reads.

Motorists, including residents of Osona Village, are advised to use the dual carriageway as an alternative route and exercise caution when driving during rainy conditions.

Road users are also urged to reduce speed, maintain a safe following distance, and avoid driving through flooded or water-covered roads.

The RA said it is working together with relevant stakeholders to assess the situation and will provide regular updates on the matter.

Members of the public are requested to report any road damage or hazards through the authority’s official reporting channels.
