Windhoek is set to welcome the return of Strictly Soul, with the R&B experience scheduled to take over Zest Mediterranean restaurant on 5 September.
The event will feature a mix of local and international talent, with Windhoek-based DJ Paul da Prince joining South African DJ and YFM radio presenter Ayanda MVP, alongside Strictly Soul founder DJ Akio.
Strictly Soul’s return follows its previous Windhoek event in March, with the city having established itself as one of the brand’s strongest territories.
According to one of the organisers, Lemu Balintulo, Strictly Soul has had people show up in numbers at all their previous events in Windhoek.
“Previous events in the capital have consistently sold out, highlighting the continued appetite for R&B in the city.
Paul da Prince will represent the local music scene, bringing his experience and understanding of Windhoek’s audience to the event,” Balintulo says.
For Ayanda MVP, the upcoming show marks a significant step in her association with the Strictly Soul brand.
After performing at previous Strictly Soul events in Johannesburg, her appearance in Windhoek will be her first international trip with the brand.
“The decision to take Ayanda MVP to Windhoek forms part of Strictly Soul’s wider approach of developing relationships with artists and DJs who have contributed to its journey, while creating opportunities for them to perform in different African markets,” Balintulo adds.
DJ Akio, who founded Strictly Soul, will also be performing at the event.
The international DJ has been central to the development of the brand, which has grown from a celebration of R&B and soul into a broader African music experience.
The event is part of Strictly Soul’s continued expansion across African cities, with the brand positioning music as a way of connecting audiences, artists and creatives across the continent.
For Windhoek’s R&B lovers, the event promises another opportunity to experience the Strictly Soul sound, with a line-up combining local talent with performers from South Africa.
