State House continues to be quiet on the health of founding president Sam Nujoma, who is currently admitted to a private hospital in Windhoek.
Nujoma was said to be in a critical condition on Thursday after being in hospital for nearly a week.
When contacted for comment, presidential spokesperson Alfredo Hengari on Friday said: “No, I have no comment.”
The Namibian understands that high-ranking government officials were this week told Nujoma was in a critical condition.
His personal doctor, Tshali Ithete, did not respond to questions sent to him on Thursday.
However, Nujoma’s son, minister of labour, industrial realtions and employment creation Utoni Nujoma, on Thursday confirmed that his father was hospitalised, but said he was in a stable condition.
“Yes, it is true, my father has been admitted, but his personal doctor said he is improving, and that’s all I can say at this moment,” he said.
Nujoma, who turns 96 this year, was also admitted last July.
