Starlile mobilise for Africa

NAMIBIAN champions African Stars intend to take at least 100 supporters along on their Caf Africa Champions League adventure to the Comoros next week.

The club’s supporters’ wing on Monday announced that they want to ensure the team has backing when they play Volcano Club de Moroni away on 27/28 November. The preliminary round return leg is set for Windhoek on 4/5 December.

“African Stars supporters club, in conjunction with African Stars FC, invite 100 supporters who want to travel with the team to the Comoros Islands to submit their names and willingness to accompany the team for this crucial match,” said coordinator Menrose Harakuta.

“We had talks with Air Namibia to give the supporters a nice discount, so by Friday 16 November, we will get the answer from the travel agent on how much each supporter is going to fork out for the flight,” he explained.

“Alternatively, we know that not everyone will be able to make it for this flight, so we are pleading humbly for businesses and all African Stars sympathisers to at least sponsor a supporter to attend this match.

“All supporters who want to go on this flight have to pay their money by Friday, 23 November,” Harakuta said, adding that those willing to travel can contact him on 0817854335 for more details.

The winner of this tie takes on either South Africa’s Orlando Pirates or Seychelles’ side Light Stars in the first round scheduled for 14 to 23 December. The winner of that match then joins 14 other clubs, plus the defending champions Esperance Sportive de Tunis, in the group stages for the 2018/19 Caf Champions League season.
