Rundu is the place to be for sport lovers who want to be treated to a variety of events during the third edition of the Kavango Super Cup Festival on Friday.
The annual event includes football games for men and women, as well as netball and volleyball matches at the Rundu Sports Stadium.
The week-long festival will start off with women’s football and volleyball until Sunday, with men’s football and netball to be played from Wednesday till 7 August.
The festival, which was launched in 2020, aims to showcase the vibrant heritage, diverse traditions and talent found in the Kavango East region and Namibia at large.
There will also be cultural performances, including a music concert, event spokesperson Roswitha Ghunonga said on Wednesday.
Ghunonga said 34 soccer teams will be taking part in the men’s football category, with eight women’s teams, and the same number of netball and volleyball teams, which include participants from the Ohangwena region.
Additionally, teams from Okahandja and Windhoek are expected to join the festival.
