Social grants to be distributed via NamPost

All social grants recipients will start collecting their money from NamPost effective 1 October.

Ministry of Finance spokesperson Wilson Shikoto says this change is aimed at improving service efficiency, enhancing financial inclusion, and ensuring consistent access to social grants for all qualifying recipients.

“NamPost has been appointed as the official service provider responsible for the cash distribution of social grants across the country,” says Shikoto.

He says all social grant recipients who reside within towns/settlements will collect their grants directly from the nearest NamPost office, and only those living in areas beyond the five-kilometre radius of a NamPost office will continue to receive their grants through NamPost’s mobile outreach and delivery services.

According to Shikoto, NamPost was chosen due to its national presence and infrastructure making it reliable.

Further details about specific payment schedules and collection locations will be communicated in due course.

“All current grant beneficiaries are advised to attend the regional meetings for detailed information on these changes,” says Shikoto.
