* Let us keep doing (NBC TV) debates of this nature in future. Not just debates but take action on what our leaders preach. Above all we strive for one goal: peace and stability in our beloved Namibia. Let’s learn to tolerate each other. Thank you political representatives for your contributions. Namibians, let us go out in numbers and vote for the political party of choice. Pray for peace during elections!

Food For Thought* WHAT does born-free mean? Born free from poverty, corruption, failed education system, nepotism, unemployment?* PLEASE, if you care, try to change those around you. Why do most Namibian men behave so badly? They urinate where they want; when they have an erection, they rape whom they want; when you don’t agree with them, they kill however they want!Bouquets And Brickbats* VIVA Ndapwa [Alweendo]! I salute you, we need born-frees of your calibre who are willing to make informed choices based on authentic facts on the ground. Vote for change, not for pride or loyalty* I AM impressed by a born-free with an independent mind. Congratulations to Ndapwa Alweendo. Ndapwa Alweendo* NDAPWA my friend, thank you for having the courage to be so honest with your views. I am proud of you! – Maruschka January* WELL done Ndapwa Alweendo! It’s a brilliant article. I hope some of our leaders read that piece. We need a change of minds and attitudes! Let the young ones take over!* THE Namibian page 7, November 24: Viva Ndapwa! You can think for yourself! I agree 100 per cent with you! Someone with your thinking must lead this country! I trust you’ll be one of the future leaders!Bouquets And BrickbatsInsp Gen Sebastian Ndeitunga* I WANT to thank the Police Chief Inspector General Sebastian Ndeitunga for the unambiguous stern warning which was directed at some politicians who want to take advantage of the good conduct and behaviour of our Police Force. Thank you General.- M* I JUST want to say thanks to Mr Janser of Usakos Municipality for cleaning Inge Street. I hope that the people in that area keep my erven clean and do not dump their waste there again. Thanks again Mr Janser.* LISTEN Namibians, One Africa TV is a free-to-air and a private channel. We don’t pay them, which means we don’t have a say in what they do. So appreciate what they do. I love One as it is. Keep it up.- Mauritius* IT is a shame that our media did not cover the Special Olympics screening day in Rundu. The community should be made aware of these good deeds.Election Fever* WHAT Ndapwa Alweendo said yesterday in her article is all true and it just gave me a clear indication that our country is corrupt! So, young people think ahead and let’s stand together and fight unfairness. I am tired of corruption against us youth! – BL Stumpfe* PUBLIC servants draping their private cars in party colours should not be allowed to park them closer than 100 metres from Government buildings. This is called impartiality. Politics* OPPOSITION parties must understand that this country was destroyed by colonial apartheid. You can destroy something in a day, but to reconstruct one may take years. Therefore what the Government has done is really visible to all, unless they are ignorant.- Tangeni, Windhoek
* I THINK the CCN should start working towards having representation in national, regional and local Governments by fully contesting in all these elections. And please don’t believe the ‘Prophets of Doom’ who want the Church to stay out of politics! Why did they lean on the Church during the liberation struggle? The Government doesn’t take the Church seriously. CCN, be assured that our members will vote for us, and we’ll be able to be the voice of the poor in the right places. Think about my idea, and let’s brainstorm some time. I’m not saying the CCN should become a political party, but we’ll be able to register with the ECN with the number of members we have. – Rev Willem Pieters* TO all political parties, how many times have we told them that we need sign language interpreters at all rallies? Deaf people miss important information at rallies.- Tega Abner Sheya* WHEN asked money for books, building schools, increased salaries, BIG: N$100 per person, the answer is ‘no money’. Where did the N$18 million for chiefs’ cars come from? – Zedy * HEY comrades, open your eyes and see what’s happening. Two million was just given to veterans’ kids and today they are at Berg Aukas to be trained. What about me? And Government should first address poverty before building national monuments. * IS it a democratic system or ruling party failing the people of Namibia that have lost optimism. It’s not about winning elections but kicking the ball correctly.- H Lucas* WILL someone please advise Dr (Elijah) Ngurare that those Namibians on foreign missions represent the Namibian State and are paid with taxpayers’ money. They do not represent Swapo, nor are they paid with Swapo money.* [SPYL LEADER] NGURARE, Mr Mbuende was not appointed to represent the Swapo Party, but the Government of Namibia. What else did you expect him to do? Hold Swapo rallies in foreign countries? You seem to have forgotten that this is a democratic state where everyone has the rights of association. * VIVA Dr Ngurare for outstandingly showing your respect to those elders whom you were interviewed with on ‘Talk of the Nation’ on November 23. Children Of The Struggle* SWAPO Government please do something for struggle children, those who are outside the gate at Berg Aukas farm. Let them inside where the others are, before the election please.
BIG Issue* THE BIG coalition has all the mechanisms and practicalities of BIG worked out and it is now up to our leaders to put the public money where their mouths are without further delay. Hon PM why are you choosing the negative notion of saying people will become dependent rather than the positive attributes. Please have some faith in the Namibian people.- Norman KEducationEducation problems to solve* I CONCUR with the writer lamenting the laziness of some school principals. They endlessly drive around town on ‘school issues’. If in office, deal with private issues, abusing telephones for private matters while others must beg to use the phone for school business. Teachers and HODs use their cellphones to get things done. And let’s not forget the misuse of school funds. The HODs are really the ones working themselves to the bone without any credit or recognition. Inspectors of education should do regular visits to schools and see who really deserves the fat cheques. Our kids are being failed by these deadwood principals.* I’VE been teaching now for a reasonable time and still fail to understand every end of the year why we as teachers have nothing to celebrate after completing that immense, unreasonable, inhumane, some even unnecessary and or too extra and time consuming for that phase (whether Gr. 1 or Gr. 12)? Something is amiss! We are doing so much and after even some good pass rates in your own subject, we start yet another year in the same mood and uneasy footing! Everybody else is having inspirational or motivational workshops free of charge every now and then, a luxury and necessity no teacher can afford.- Tired teacherIn And From The Regions* NOT that I want to respond to you for your so-called disappointment, but just to clear the damage you have done by misleading others: In the first place, I am not a Councillor but just a clerk at the Grünau Settlement Office. Please know your facts. Secondly, I suppose that you are living in the squatter camp. NamPower only provides electricity to erven. All of us on erven have power. Now where in Grünau are you living?* MY concern is that development at Groot Aub is all about politics and not about the community. Community leaders are seeking positions instead of development for Groot Aub. Please help us.
* ONGWEDIVA Town Council please provide tarred roads. Asthma patients are no longer comfortable in your town, even our food is mixed with dust. Please do something. – TuutaleniPlease we can’t see at night* WALVIS Bay Municipality we are in the Sam Nujoma project houses in Erongo Street, but have had no electricity for 11 months now. Please do something, it’s too dark.* MINISTER [of Information Joel] Kaapanda, please bring radio and TV reception to Omomas, Schlip, Rietoog, Klein-Aub. We also need the media to be educated.* WHOSE duty is it in Ongwediva, I wonder, to allocate taxi ranks? Is it for the taxi owners/drivers or town council to decide? There are taxi ranks in only one street, Mandume Ndemufayo, but since the development of Extension 11 and the tarring of Kaxumba Kandola Street, (east and west of Mandume Ndemufayo Street respectively), distances have just become too long. So, whoever is responsible, please consider some changes. The taxis are ‘robbing’ us.General* TO the person who had a problem with the Maq 10 advert on One Africa, my dear the advert is on a South African channel called e-tv and everything on e-tv reflects South Africa, so start crying about the boring Namibian adverts and learn from the South Africans. * LADIES/mothers: please do not call on the Police when your husband is abusive. The Police called the social workers who took the kids, husband remained at home, and kids are now in a shelter and a major welfare case! * IN response to the SMS from Mr Worried (about which study guide to use for a driver’s licence), use the new one. Remember one thing: prepare yourself before you come to us. Good luck, Mr Worried.- Can Natis please help us with a description of this book and where to get it to assist other learner drivers? – Newsdesk * LET me ask is meme Ruusa Malulu alive? If so, why are you so quiet ma’am? We miss your talks.NBC* I WONDER why the NBC is not showing local soccer. How do we improve our soccer if we don’t expose them to TV in order for them to see their shortcomings and improve.* WHY does the NBC not allow party women to debate as well? We need gender issues to be integrated into politics and in the development agenda of Namibia. Can women debate on Thursday also!- Surely it is up to the political parties to choose their representatives for debates and discussions? – Newsdesk* WHAT a humorous ‘Talk of the Nation’! One wonders what would happen if they were not live on TV! Can’t wait for today’s show! – AA* NBC we need television at Sesriem, otherwise we will not know what is happening in Namibia.Labour Issues* DEAR editors please help security guards. Our bosses often don’t care about us but only worry about the money we bring into their pockets. We guard buildings without company jackets during the rain, we are bitten by mosquitoes and get cold in winter. At the end they don’t want to let you go on leave.* JUST returned from the North where I spoke to a new friend, employed by a Chinese shop owner. I was shocked to hear that she earns N$300 per month. How is this allowed in our country?* PLEASE, Nantu and the Ministry of Education increase the requirements for HOD and Principal posts in terms of teaching experience to 12 and 10 years respectively, to reduce the costs involved in interviews (written and oral) as the situation is in Kavango region now. * PAY school principals according to the number of learners not by rank. How can a principal with 16 learners at school (lower primary) get the same salary as a senior secondary principal with 900 learners at school? Nantu, please revisit your decision. * PLEASE Grootfontein employers, respect your employees and show concern about their health. If a person is sick, and given sick leave by a doctor, they must stay at home.Health Matters* WHAT’S going on at Swakopmund State Hospital? People with measles and other contagious diseases are isolated near the maternity ward and those people are walking around in maternity ward.* MR [Health Minister Richard] Kamwi TB DoT promoters in Otjozondjupa Region are being poorly treated. We work from 08h00 to 17h00 from Monday to Friday and are treated to N$600, no social security, no medical aid. We have been working for almost four years but nothing has changed. Please Mr Kamwi we want to meet you and hear our problems. We are stopping TB in our country but we are not well treated. Service Please* AIR Namibia, it takes too long to be attended to at your ticketing branch. Only two of six counters are operational. Is this is why you are a loss maker?* MR Quinton van Rooyen of Trustco, your customer care management is poor. I bought a computer, and other material, but it is now six months later and I have not received it. Yet we are being told don’t cancel. I went there many times and many people are complaining about the same thing.Lost And Found* I, RUBEN Sitanga, have lost my ID in Mariental district. If found please call at 081-228-6230 or 063-260038.* LORRAINE Tuzembeho left her handbag in a taxi travelling from Karibib to Walvis Bay on Sunday. It has her health passport and medicine. Please call 081-325-9616.* I LOST my pocket diary (Bank Windhoek 2009). My name is Shipuka Augustus Shilongo. If found please SMS to 081-209-0296 or give to at Uutapi or nearest police station. It as lost on Saturday in Uutapi township.* EDWIN Draaier has lost his ID in Windhoek or Rehoboth. If found call or SMS 081-398-2269.Sporting* IS the management of the NFA and NPL aware of the chaotic stampede which took place during the premiership match between Pirates and Stars last weekend? Surely Namibian football lovers should learn to arrive early at matches. This time around the blame should squarely be on the football administrators, they were napping in the VIP stand. There was no adequate security to manage the crowd. – Kgalemang Makgone, Katutura* I AM a proud supporter of African Stars FC and would like to find out where I should buy a replica Stars jersey. Here are my contact details – 081-210-2389. * WHEN I read about Ivan Namaseb on Friday, I remember a true professional, a sensation to watch. Ice, we really miss you.- Pirates Fans- Namaseb is contracted to Namibia’s Orlando Pirates Football Club this season, but he is on their list of injured players. – SportsdeskACC Alert* I WANT the ACC to come to Khorixas to investigate the town council. Several people are using the council’s car for private purposes.
