SMSes Of Tuesday 29 September 2009

* IT seems to be election time again. ‘Seems’ because I have ceased to consider this exercise as progressive. Rather, it became retrogressive in Namibia. The reason: the coloniser’s approach was: ‘Divide and rule’ and now it equals the new politics = ‘Deny and rule’. Thus, I am now obliged to vote out of the sheer necessity to defend not only democracy, but also to defend my very own existence before it becomes eroded by the present day voting reasons.

Food For Thought* IF (Ghana’s first president) Kwame Nkrumah had been able to return, he would have been going mad with the African leaders who have ruined and still ruin what he founded for African people.* I AM so fed up with our power-crazy leaders. I encourage every Namibian to choose wisely when you vote, don’t let them bribe you. Please I beg don’t vote out of routine or beliefs. You have at least one month left to think it through. Brickbats And Bouquets* I WANT to give my thanks to Mr Kazenambo Kazenambo for what he said in the National Assembly. I am really happy about his very interesting point. It is true that we as a Namibian people can make our own products, food, and create jobs to avoid unemployment and joblessness in Namibia and Africa as a whole.- Matheus Ihalwa* ONGWEDIVA Municipality, thanks for the tarred road at Hanover, but would you please set taxi ranks as well since we are still being charged double by taxis if they drive inside, unless they drop us off at Corner Shop. Please act now as we been waiting for so long.- Tukwatheni Twalulilwa* PEP Store, thanks a lot for the service I was given by your workers at Onethindi on Thursday. Keep it up. A good example. Salute you.- Rauha Moongo, Onamulunga* BELIEVE it or not, there are some stupid adverts in our electronic media. Some adverts show how you can slice and mix fruits, cellphones, mp3 players, colouring pens and memory sticks to bake it in an oven for obtaining brand new cellphones. Please stop the fiasco! * WHAT a lovely story on the kitten from Oshakati. Thanks to the Simoes family and the Cat Protection Society. * IF everyone in Namibia washed their hands 10 times a day there would probably be a severe water shortage. Think of those who have to fetch their water too before printing this kind of information please.Election Fever* MR Tonchi and Mr Ndjarakana, this whole registration process is just disorganised. Even the payment is little compared to what we got in 2004. I wonder why the former director left? No transport no lunch. N$50 a day for training is just nothing. Then you want to tell us if we don’t want it then we must go, where? We work to go up not to go down. No T-shirts, no lights. Mr Kanime if possible please come back. – Ndalulilwa* ECN, why don’t you register awaiting-trail inmates in Police cells?- Concerned Namibian* WHERE do I buy my RDP shoes, the ones shown in The Namibian, page 7? – We understand they are self-made. – NewsdeskPolitics* FELLOW Namibians, with the current blend of leadership we will remain a developing country till the end of this century. Way forward: Constitutional amendment to provide for two political parties only. Just look at them developed world, that’s their system and it’s very successful. – Tyrish, Ondangwa * THE candidates of all political parties should voluntarily reveal their academic qualifications as called for by All People’s Party’s (Ignatius) Shixuameni. * I JUST want to know the policy of the NBC concerning the broadcasting of the meetings of different political parties. We have never seen a RDP meeting broadcast by the NBC or is the NBC openly promoting Swapo? Please NBC, be fair in your coverage of news and let us see RDP meetings as well. Please NBC be real and not biased in giving your news. Just know we the citizens of Namibia are paying the licences.- Concerned citizen * DEAR editor why can’t all MPs, ministers, governors, councillors just serve two terms maximum like the president? Correction* THE quote in The Namibian edition of Friday, September 25, ‘Of all the sins that Africa can commit, the sin of despair would be the most unforgivable’ which you attributed to Nkrumah was made by the late Julius Nyerere. A correction would be gratefully appreciated.- T Kalomoh- Thank you for pointing it out. – NewsdeskGeneral* THE gap between the rich and the poor remains a challenge for the GRN, but the poor themselves are doing contrary. Sorry, not all but most of them spend their hard-earned money on booze and gambling. Unless this is addressed the matter cannot be fully diagnosed. * MY son passed away in a car accident in 2007. He was the driver of the car and we claimed at MVA, but the people at MVA told us they can’t pay out because he was the driver. Please help us. In And From The Regions* FIRSTLY thank you for giving us space in our Namibian newspaper. Please the municipality of Otjiwarongo, do something about your prepaid water because it seems you cannot cope.- Enrico* IT is time for examination preparation but we as learners are no more concentrating because of political songs day and night in Okahao. Parents, Okahao Town Council where are you? Would you be happy if we fail? This is too much.* WHAT kind of hospital is Onandjokwe? Just imagine Thursday, September 24, and Saturday, September 26.9.09, at 00h20 the electricity was off and there is no back-up generator. My concern is about emergency cases such as car accidents. Say the victim needs a transfusion, how will the person be helped if there is no electricity. Maybe they came a long way and to proceed to Oshakati Hospital will cause a person’s death. Please a generator must be installed asap, if not yet in the budget it must be at No 1 priority. Our nation’s life is in danger. Thank you.- Concerned patient* WE from Spitzkoppe community want service from our headman. We are having problems with the Police on the road if we want to transport meat from Spitzkoppe. He does not stay there and the office is always closed. Help us please open your office from 8 to 5 at least. * THE construction of Engela Bridge is happening at a very slow pace. It has already started raining in this area. Please complete the project. We don’t want to be cut off by floodwaters again. – Concerned* I GOT my South West Africa ID card in 1976 and I applied for citizenship in 1993. I’ve been almost 40 years in Namibia still I did not get anything. At Opuwo Home Affairs every day they told me to wait. I also need to vote. Please help me. 081-333-3255. Politics In General* BIRDS of a feather flock together Gaddafi, Chavez, Mugabe. Let their records speak for themselves. ‘Power corrupts absolute power corrupts, absolutely’.Running The Show* WHY does the Ministry of Justice so believe in the contract basis, can’t they just employ people permanently. I saw in Friday’s The Namibian that there are new posts but on contract basis. I’ve been working for Justice now for three years as a contract employee. Come on Honourable (Justice Minister Pendukeni) Ithana we also want to be permanent like all employees from other Ministries. * MOHSS: The roads inside the Katutura Hospital compound need very urgent attention. The potholes are just growing day by day. Please act urgently.- Concerned Citizen* THE Minister of Works, Transport and Communication who calls on the nation to respect national symbols should start at his own ministry. Is the minister aware that important national symbols such as our coat of arms are sometimes printed upside down on official communications from this ministry? How does the minister hope to educate the public if things like this are happening at his own ministry?Education* LET the Ministry of Education implement computer as a compulsory subject in all school, especially at D Sheehama SSS or are they only for the teachers? – Mr mind @ Outapi * I JUST want to ask why are teachers not giving a chance to those people who fall pregnant to go back to school after delivering?* ETSIP, we hope that at the end of the day we will invest in quality primary education for all, rather than Grades 20 to 12. Build a house with a solid foundation and see what you get. Sporting* SEVENS Namibia was great except for the commentary which was one sided. It was very unprofessional and I think that it broke the other players’ morale. You should really look into getting a more professional commentator.Lost And Found* LOOKING for Beukes Corne Romano or Mouton Joland or Vries Myrtle. Please contact the person who registered you at the registration point for your voter’s card. Urgent please. * STOLEN from house in Klein Windhoek purse with German driving licence and ‘Krankenkasse’ card in name of Katrin Osterode. Call 081-423-2143.
