I know I’m not the only one with this problem.Politics in general* AS a Swapo supporter I am totally perplexed and at the same time discouraged by the total bankruptcy of ideas within our party. After a long drought of political activities at Keetmanshoop we once again had to endure a political dinosaur mourning about some imaginary imperialists in reference to the RDP leadership and rank and file. We expected only to hear how the Government intends to address poverty and other ills affecting us, instead of baseless name-callings by the ‘old man’ whose upkeep is surely adding more pressure to the meagre resources of the country. I am now convinced that the former President has been, and still is, a liability to our party, Swapo and the country’s economy. No wonder our party is now befittingly called ‘Shawapo’, literally meaning ‘it fell down’. Meanwhile the RDP, despite it being called ‘Radopa’, meaning ‘it failed’, by Swapo leaders, gains traction contrary to Swapo’s wishes.* I AM sick and tired of hearing Swapo leaders and its supporters still talking about the liberation struggle after 17 years of Independence. The liberation struggle is over and even those who fought for it are not enjoying the fruits of this beautiful country. Let’s open our eyes and see where to get development and changes from. Sleeping on an empty stomach and supporting the one who cannot give you food is totally wrong. So please all leaders must also stop inflammatory speeches with immediate effect. That’s how it should be, helping and interacting even if you are from different parties. It is not a crime to belong to any political party. I urge all rally attendants to show displeasure by booing speakers that insult, spread fear and incite people.* CAN NBC please tell us why they broadcast Swapo meetings immediately on or after the day it was held and other parties have to wait days for their coverage to e broadcast? Is NBC a Swapo or a national broadcaster? If it is a Swapo broadcaster, why use taxpayers’ money?* MR President how can the people of the Karas Region benefit from the wealth on their doorstep when their region is overpopulated by BEE appointees and political appointees from the four O regions. With regard to alcohol abuse you have the power to stop it by outlawing the shebeen culture. But can you?* WE, the people of Karas, must not be deceived by President Pohamba to gain our votes. Where was he all these years or is he only opening his eyes now that we are being discriminated against in our own country.* WHY is RDP against a recent High Court order to evict Ovakwanyama herders and their cattle from the western Kavango Region, who have been there illegally. This to me means that RDP will bring back these illegal herders when they win the 2009 general elections. But, remember we do not want tribal fighting. – Iiyela Abiatar* WHILE Alfredo Hengari’s opinion piece in The Namibian of February 29 is generally acceptable, I found it robbing the Swapo president of his democratic right of addressing the Oshiwambo-speaking audience in their language. We have been Independent for 17 years and still he attacks the white population of Namibia.* PRESIDENT Pohamba it’s pure discrimination that people from the South are not employed in their region. Thanks for telling the corrupt leaders of the Karas region.Education* I AM concerned about one private school, Tobias Hainyeko in the Caprivi Region, whose 2007 Grade 10 results are still outstanding. Is this school a registered? If yes, what is the reason why the results are not released? What will happen to the monthly payment of N$200 dollars these pupils paid from January to December last year, excluding their exam registration fee?* NAMCOL what is going on? We want to improve our symbols. We were told there is no study material for subjects. What must we do in this country? – Werner* BRING back Bible teaching in primary school. Why impose other religions on our small innocent minds? Are the children in the Islamic or Hindu world also taught Christianity? When I took my son back after the weekend, I was disappointed to find the hostel in a state not fit for a person to live in, dirty and disgusting! The newspapers of the previous day outside Mariental Wimpy are free copies for all!* AT the Walvis Bay State Hospital you must count yourself lucky if you see two nurses per shift in the casualty department. With such skeleton staff we have to attend to emergencies, screening, receiving calls, receiving patients’ payments and registering them, issuing medicine, transporting patients to wards, which also only have one or two nurses per ward. Thanks to The Namibian for letting our voices be heard through the SMS service.* IT is painful for us the, residents of Otjimbingwe, to see how we should make a living. There are two big rivers running through the village but potable water is rationed to us. The old regional office was last renovated in 1985, but we want to build a new office. The current clerk at the local office is only selling electricity.General* WHAT? So it’s OK to destroy the coastline, damage the sensitive ecology, just as long as you make your money? How selfish! Are you thinking of future generations, and what heritage you’re planning to leave them?* THE German national aged 70 who returned to stand trial only to have it again postponed must be an example of a good citizen or very stupid to continue to pay more than his bail in air fares if his accuser can’t make the effort to be in court. same as cleaners. This is while national leaders pay fat cheques to themselves and neglect others. If DRC didn’t exist where could some soldiers have gotten enough money to buy houses? – Heldie* NURSES, though overloaded, should learn to judge the seriousness of cases. Snakebite could have been given priority. Generally, today’s nurses have a bad attitude towards patients. They are really full of themselves. They lack nursing ethics. Is this not their call, their profession? By the way don’t they take psychology in training? Oh, no, a lot needs to be done.* SOMETIMES the public should learn to shut up. If nurses had to work according to their scope of practice some of you and your loved ones will go without nurses at all. The fact that they at least try to accommodate everyone should be appreciated. And the minister should only feel shame for blaming nurses for his failures. Those nurses are overworked and tired and more insults from the public only make them bitter. They are only human.* WONDERING why all foreigners applying for permanent residence cannot do it through the Investment Centre? Why must some apply directly to Home Affairs? We must have a record of how much they bring in as investment. Please Home Affairs refer all applications that are business related to the Trade Ministry * I FULLY support the idea that Government must stop age restrictions for Police and defence force recruits.* NAMIBIAN men we must stop the spread of HIV-AIDS deliberately to women. You have a good system and good trainers. You have people who are experts in stock control systems, why don’t you send them to all regions to train people dealing with stock at all points throughout the country.
