* PRESIDENT Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe is busy campaigning, calling opposition party leaders ‘witches, prostitutes, agents …’ These are the same name tags attributed to opposition leaders Namibia. Opponents are called ‘spies, ghosts, Judas Iscariots, political prostitutes, enemy agents, criminals…’ Birds of a feather flock together! Zanu-PF and Swapo have become a SADC embarrassment. They suffer from super-ego, liberation struggle fever.
* IF the Government wants to intervene at Pionier Boys they must do so by making sure it is a school of slow learners (learning difficulties) and not behavioural problems. Government must open a school for behavioural problems or other schools must deal with their own learners’ behavioural problems instead of dumping them at Pionier Boys’ School. Please stop frustrating special education teachers. They already have a daily challenging task. Food for thought* THIS goes to our cartoonist Dudley. Can we please see a sketch of yourself in the next edition. That would be a lot of fun, you know.* SWAPO should understand that politics is a game of gains. Those who gained from its regime are out to protect their gains. Likewise, those who have not are demanding their share of the political cake. That is why we are joining RDP en masse. 17 years of abuse of the nation’s political mandate is more than enough. Alienating your nationals to feel like strangers in their own country deserves no better punishment than what you will get at the ballot box, come 2009.Politics in general* ISN’T it just sweet justice! For the first time we have a counterbalance to the Swapo juggernaut, who used to ride over any opposition without even blinking an eye and did not even bother to entertain an objection in the past. Now they go as far as calling off a poll that all of a sudden isn’t going their way. True democracy can only exist within a balance of power. Don’t let anyone fool you otherwise. Edwin B* THE Swapo rally at Eenhana on Saturday addressed by Jerry Ekandjo was a big setback for the entire Swapo leadership in Ohangwena Region. It was more focused on past Swapo history and character assassination of RDP and CoD leaders. Low turnout was observed amongst the literate class! No promises of job creation, better medical facilities, development of infrastructure, provision of quality education, HIV-AIDS alleviation and improvement of the nation social welfare were made!* THE Namibian newspaper, please report facts, not fabrications. Swapo brought democracy in this country, so don’t say they don’t want RDP to gain political traction. RDP is an artificial flower with no life and it cannot grow. It is led by frustrated leaders such as Hidipo (Hamutenya). – Thank you. We do not report fabrications. But we respect that you are entitled to your view. – Newsdesk* I AM tired of African politicians who lie to the people, misusing the ignorance of the people. The party who helped liberate the country does not own it. Those who claim to be the liberators are the perpetrators of what they claim to have fought against for so long.* THE so-called leaders of RDP are themselves failures because they admitted in public that they failed to deliver while heading Government ministries. What change are they promising in one year while they failed the nation over the past 15 years. It is now clear that they had been all along deliberately failing the Government for their selfish ambitions. They do not deserve any vote from the suffering masses of this nation they have so much betrayed. Let them go fool their handlers who have all the time been working hard with them to form strong opposition from within Swapo. What a betrayal and they will never succeed. – Mbwale* FELLOW citizens, when last did you see a Police car patrolling through your area? Can we still vote for Swapo while it could not even provide us with proper policing in our communities for 18 years?* PEOPLE don’t blame Swapo if you are unemployed because you don’t have skills. It seems that people are being fooled by RDP. Leave our Swapo alone. – Leo Nafuka* DUDLEY’S cartoon on Friday in The Namibian newspaper shows President Pohamba as a snake-like individual. That is how the public view most if not all Swapo leaders. They have turned into two-headed snakes. They should just wait for their fate. History seems to be repeating itself. Keep telling it like it was, is and will be. – Reader from Uutapi* I AM just failing to understand. When the opposition is talking bad about SWAPO nobody cares and they expect Swapo to just fold its arms and let all the kind of nuisance said about it. When Swapo talks then it’s considered political intimidation. Swapo has the same right as the opposition to voice its concerns although it’s a ruling party. We shall never fold our arms while our leaders are insulted in the so-called name of democracy. We will never give in to those who want to see us failing and they are in for a good shock. – TS* I WANT to respond to the question raised by an SMS writer to our President about why he does not discourage the former president from marginalising some members in the party. The issue of 20 members in the Swapo Central Committee from one region that is Omusati and more than seven Politburo members from the same region. The point here is that these people were elected through a democratic process at the last Swapo congress held in Windhoek last year and this has nothing to do with the former president or the current President, so therefore you should not confuse the two. If you don’t know the Swapo structures then you could study them and mind you Omusati has different tribes and not only one.Education* I WANT to hear from the Ministry of Education why Grade 12s are not allowed to repeat as Grade 10s do? We want Grade 12 to repeat because you said education is for all. – Elina* I WAS very shocked and disappointed when told that Namcol was not able to accommodate Grade 12 learners due to shortage of study material. What now? I want my son to improve results for admission to a tertiary institution. The cut-off date was given as the 3rd of March. Poor planning and bad state of the education sector in our country is again evident. I insist that they make a plan and extend the registration deadline to allow us to register our kids!* I REALLY don’t know if Vision 2030 will be achieved. We have many VTC graduates who are ignored by Government. The Government must conduct a survey at towns such as Rundu, Ongwediva and in Caprivi to see how many qualified artisans (VTC graduates) are unemployed. Please do something for the VTC graduates.* FATHER of the nation please do something as the Chancellor of Unam. They expect us to pay our full tuition fees before June. Where do they think our parents will get that sort of money in such a short period of time? There must be a solution to this. – J IlekaGeneral* ALL that money that is invested in the new State House should be used to upgrade our hospitals and schools. Maybe then we will stop complaining.* I JUST want to give my honest opinion about the incident that happened at the Katutura State Hospital regarding the baby who died of a snakebite. Everyone is throwing stones at the nurses at Katutura casualty. Have you people ever visited the casualty at month-end or weekends? It looks like a butchery and it is the same poor nurses who take care of the people. Why blame the nurses today? What about the doctors who were on duty that specific day? The nurses merely execute the doctors’ instructions. Besides, the nurses are overloaded with work because of staff shortages. Why not look into the working conditions and salaries of the nurses? Please do something for our Florence Nightingales. They are the heroes who save lives. – Rooitjie* MINISTRY of Health the job categories under which registered nurses resort are confusing. A medical assistant with clinical experience of more than 20 years has the same salary notch s a registered nurse, who just got a diploma yesterday! I think there is something wrong. Medical assistants are totally different from registered nurses, so let us be realistic.
* THE Ovambanderu authority from Epukiro wants to impose Kilus Nguvauva on the whole of Ovambanderu community through the back door, but be warned, we will go back to the court. Do not forget the agreement between Senior Chief Kahuure and Peter Nguvauva.* I WANT an answer from the financial institutions about vehicle financing. They advised us not to buy second-hand imported vehicles or pay higher deposits. But to my knowledge all cars are imported, as Namibia does not have a vehicle assembly plant. We want cheap imported cars to be financed and don’t want to be penalised with a high deposit.* CITY Police, where possible please do not obstruct the normal flow of life of other citizens while busy carrying out your duties/activities. For example: stopping your cars right in the middle of the road whereas there could be available parking just five metres away.* PARLIAMENT please pass a law to compel private doctors to release patients’ treatment files. What is the use of the N$50 or N$120 a patient pays for the file if the file remains the practitioner’s property? This system is costly to us with chronic illness, because you are just forced not to go and get other doctors’ opinion. Do they just want to keep us with them while our heath does not improve?Food for thought * THIS goes to our cartoonist Dudley. Can we please see a sketch of yourself in the next edition.
