* THUMBS up to the Omaruru Police Station for closing all shebeens on Easter Monday. You have really brought many changes. So keep it up! – Ue2
Food For Thought
* REFERRING to the article in Informanté ‘Contractor accused of swindling school of N$1,1m’, any clients wishing to procure a building facility, please avoid this type of fraud from contractors.

Food For Thought
* REFERRING to the article in Informanté ‘Contractor accused of swindling school of N$1,1m’, any clients wishing to procure a building facility, please avoid this type of fraud from contractors. Consult with architects and quantity surveyors before you start with the building process. Overpaid contractors, wrong materials. This is daylight robbery! – LD
* MAY God be with those people with parking tickets and other minor traffic offences, jail and expensive fines are in store for them. Rapists, murderers, armed robbers, child molesters, drug lords, you can sleep soundly though and carry on with your ‘business’, the Namibian legal system is there for you!
Politics
* REGARDLESS of what the media do or don’t do (Justice Minister Pendukeni) Iivula-Ithana will always complain. I don’t ever watch NBC-TV but I suppose the G20 demonstrations were extensively covered by our national video broadcaster.
Bouquets And Brickbats
* TO the Kausiona couple who helped us out for 60 km when our car lights stopped functioning between Outjo and Otjiwarongo. May the Lord bless you for the kind gesture. Hope one day our paths will cross again. Thanks once again. – Herman Michael Ucham
* HANDS up for those who risked their lives to give armed robbers a taste of their own medicine. I would also like to acknowledge the presence of the G4S Armed Response guys. They are doing a very splendid job. One just hopes that, the company rewards them according to their commitment. – Thankful citizen
* IN politics one forgets there is a person behind the face fighting his own battles. Congratulations to SPYL’s (Elijah) Ngurare for completing his doctoral degree. – JD Hatutale
* THE Lüderitz Crayfish Festival was really well organised! Well done to the organisers. See you next year! – Kavee, Windhoek
* PLEASE One Africa, change your subtitles displaying system. You know well, yellow and white don’t go hand in hand, and besides they are not eye friendly. I suggest you use black and yellow.
* INSTEAD of complimenting the City Police for a job well done, people are criticising the NDF. How on earth can you compare the military and the police? We are here to protect the nation, City Police included! People must think before just opening their mouths.
* TO the Terminator, the greatest of all time, you have two years before your speed, strength and reflexes start waning. So please homeboy keep a low profile and get a belt for us boxing fans who believe in you.
* THE Shell advert on NBC TV is misleading. It talks about minimum speed limits on urban and national roads of 60km/h and 120km/h respectively instead of maximum speed limits! – Joe Sasa
Soccer WeekendAt The Namibian Newspaper Cup
* I COULDN’T believe what I was seeing on NBC-TV was real when I was watching The Namibian Newspaper Cup final between Omaheke and Khomas. Artificial turf on Sam Nujoma Independence Stadium, Windhoek, Namibia. What a beautiful stadium! So wonderful! Thumbs up! And thanks to The Namibian for promoting soccer among our youth. – Kangwema
* WELL done Queen’s Football Club. Great match. Thanks to The Namibian for the event. – Mario G
* PLEASE our GRN must reconsider lifting the ban on The Namibian newspaper because that newspaper is contributing to the social development of our lovely country and congratulations to Miss G Lister and your team. – Embadja
* WILL The Namibian please publish the results of all the matches from the Newspaper Cup? We were eagerly waiting for today’s paper but there was not much. – A special supplement covering the whole event is included today.- Newsdesk
Our Precious Planet
* THE SABC 2 last week broadcast a story about a syndicate involving local and foreign nationals from the East (countries mentioned) who are killing wild animals including rhinos. My concern is how effective are our officials when dealing with illegal poaching?
* ONLY one planet! Everyone owes it to future generations, that’s your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to look after and respect our earth and all living things. An injury to Earth is an injury to all!
Children Of The Struggle
* KIDS of exiles have still not been registered. At the time they (registration officials) came back, some were surrounded by water with nowhere to cross. Can you please come back and register us. – From the North
Workplace
* MR Tom Alweendo, women celebrated independence in March but are not being recognised for our contribution to the banking sector. Banks’ workforces are filled by mostly women (75%) but less than 5% fill management or senior management positions. Why is this happening? Also, why are men still being paid more than women when we are doing the same job? We are told by our managers that BoN wants us to study for our diplomas or degrees but what is the point as executive managers do not take women with these qualifications seriously. We look up to women and see them having to fight for each position available. We would like you as the head of BoN to investigate this and to do something about it. Think about how many women are currently branch managers, the numbers are very bad. Please help Namibian women to succeed.
* KEETMANS is the only big town where the Patterson grading system is taboo. Time and again the council rejects this system. Plumbers and others at the municipality with 10 and more years are paid peanuts but new kids on the block are welcomed with salaries to die for.
* WE are suffering at this company (name mentioned). It’s [allegedly threatening its people and it doesn’t want to pay its people full money! It’s us who are sweating, but interviewers caucus prior to interviews and recommend their friends who are incompetent, unsuitable for posts and inexperienced in the field. For example, majority of heads of divisions are incompetent and failing the region. The situation makes capable and competent subordinates remain lip-tightened, when it comes to decision-making and problem-solving, as their experience and skills are not taken into account. – SG
In And From the Regions
* LET the heads of Mariental Prison not blame us the families of the inmates by saying that the food we bring for the inmates is the main cause of the disease outbreak which was there. How can we bring our own people rotten food? There was nothing wrong all these years. Now we are only allowed to bring sealed food. We don’t always have money to buy food.
* SOMETHING somewhere in the country has to be called to order. There are some civil servants and politicians lobbying community groups that their names, their husband’s names or those of their dead parents be used to name streets, schools, buildings, sport teams, nursery schools and so on. Come on! What are we up to? Some of these do not deserve it. Tell them to wait until they die when people will remember them if they ever deserve it. A saint is always a dead man/woman not a living one.
* ACC, NID and FFF please organise workshops for Mariental, Hardap communities. We are forgotten and left behind! – Toto
* PLEASE Ministry of Works at Opuwo do something for our nurses home. Pipes are broken and some are leaking and at the end of the month you are complaining that the bill is high while just sitting there doing nothing waiting for the month end. Each and every month we are paying for this nurses home. Please.
* MR Prime Minister, why do you conclude that the BIG (Basic Income Grant) initiative will start a hand out culture if the Government took it over? What community development programmes has Government introduced to Otjivero re
sidents that would help them to create jobs for themselves?
* I JUST want to know what the Mariental Chamber of Commerce is doing because there is no development while Mariental is the main town of Hardap Region. It’s only China shops on every corner what about Style, Jet, OK Supermarket, Mr Price etc. Look at Rehoboth.
General
* IT is time the Ministry of Home Affairs started searching every vehicle passing through the southern borders due to escalating drug smuggling in South Africa from overseas. This will cause delays but at least we will have less drugs in our country which is destroying our society after alcohol. Those trucks are difficult to search but if the cargo is from South America or Thailand or China it may warrant a proper search. With dogs they can do their job properly. – Concerned.
* CAN the Silozi NBC translate the preaching from Saturday, April 11 at 07h00 into English, it’s very important. And please take it into consideration.
Sporting
* I WATCHED the Offside soccer programme on One Africa on Monday after The Namibian Newspaper Cup final and to my surprise saw the NFA secretary general Mr Barry Rukoro losing his temper due to questions asked by Mr Ndamanomata of One Africa. The whole nation was watching you live. Learn how to answer questions and accept where the NFA has made a mistake and not point fingers to presenters. The programme’s aim is to share ideas on football not to quarrel.
Service Please
* IT was a difficult Easter weekend at Swakopmund because Erongo Red can’t sell electricity during the weekend and public holiday. Please take care of valuable customers. Arrangements should be made with service stations to provide the service, since they’re champion service providers. Customer care is what we desire. – MMM
