* YES Comrade President, unity is a dream of every genuine Namibian but how can we be united if the country is being managed into poverty? Please check the facts, unemployment, education, etc. Comrade, do yourself a favour and call two of those dancing mothers at the party’s rally and ask them where their children are. For sure the answer will be loud, ‘unemployed, failed Grade 10 and at home’, etc. We are worried Comrade President about the future of our beloved country

Food For Thought* PEOPLE without hope are easily controlled. Hope is something only an individual can have.- TuyeniBouquets And BrickbatsCuban President Raúl Castro* THANK you very much President Pohamba for such a special gesture to the good people of Cuba. You really made it up for the blood of the sons of the Cuban soil who died in many battles including Cuito Cuanavale while fighting shoulder to shoulder for the liberation of our beloved Namibia. God bless you exceedingly Uncle Lucas and thank you very much from the depth of my being.- Kabela
* I WANT to thank and appreciate the gestures of our Founding President, the current Prime Minister and the Governor of Bank of Namibia for availing themselves to young students conducting research. It would be nice if our young ministers and their deputies could emulate this gesture of their elders and also avail themselves to assist young people in their endeavours to contribute to the national development of our country.* THANK you for publishing my letter (understanding nurse’s role). I wish to thank the readers as well. I received overwhelming support from the public, doctors and nurses. However one doctor stated that doctors also care for patients not diseases .* THANKS to the Roman Catholic Hospital (Ward 1) for your excellent work and action. Dr Botha, Sr Vistolina Ekandjo, you did a good job, always smiling to your patients and making them comfortable. Keep it up. I wish all sisters would be like you. May God bless you with more years of helping others the way you did for me. Thumbs up!* I MUST say Mr Kaure, you really know how to write quite a brilliant text.
* CITY of Windhoek Police is so pathetic. My friends were on the way from Cape Town to Windhoek and just after the Noordoewer border post some thugs tried to shoot their car off the road but they missed. Before that they found stones in the middle of the road and stopped the car and removed the stones out of the road. It was about 30 km from the border post. When they phoned the only number they had at that time for the City Police, the officer just told them that they are in Windhoek and do not know how to help them and hung up the phone. They could have given them the correct number just to assist them. Wake up City Police.* GWEN Lister, who are you to question the Constitution of this republic? I was shocked to read your questions and comments at the end of the letter of PS Mr Uandjarakana of Friday, July 17. The President of this country is president 24/7 plain and simple, what else do you want? Asking the issue that was satisfactorily clarified like you did is highly ridiculous and a sign of trying to find mistakes where they don’t exist. Leave our president alone and go home to sleep if you have nothing else to publish. I know you will not publish this letter because it is criticising you.- SRC for finance (Ongwediva College) – You are as entitled to your views as I am to mine. – Gwen Lister* I WOULD like to congratulate the following institutions for the quality services they are offering in Oshakati: the office of Police Commissioner Kashihakumwa, the office of Customs and Excise, the Medipark and the office of Commissioner Shivute at Eenhana. The offices are always clean and the staff are professionals.* TO the Chief Nurse in Namibia, your move to employ foreign nurses is a good one but that is not the last option. You should improve the skills of the nurses you have. Nursing is a calling and not a career. Please practise what you were taught nurses and stop diverting your responsibilities to the cleaners and doctors.- Concerned patientRunning The Show* THE nation is deeply concerned about how N$120 million in taxpayers’ money was spent and how the GRN generally does business with tax money. ‘Setting the nation’s agenda’ along the lines of educating us as to the jargon used when tax money is at stake would be more appropriate than dwelling into the CVs of individuals and expert opinions. Spare me a thought.City Fathers Please …* CITY of Windhoek, are you not ashamed of yourselves? You earn enough to pay for your entertainment! That N$1,4 million can be used to upgrade the Old Age Home and to buy clothes, food, toiletries, household linen and furniture for them!Scanners* ABOUT the N$120 million: only about N$40 million is traced, where is the rest (N$80 million)? We taxpayers need an answer urgently!n MY N$120 million as a taxpayer should be fully accounted for and all beneficiaries to this scam should be publicly brought to book no matter who they are!- Kamutuka ValiIn And From The Regions* ON roads: don’t call Omungwelume road a road. That is a death trap. Who cares. No minister lives or hails from there, only voters* MUNICIPALITIES should differentiate between ploughing back into the residents and initiating community responsive projects in the wake of ever-increasing tariffs.- BAB, Karas! No tobacco day at Katima* PLEASE help! I visited my brother, who was locked up in the Katima Mulilo Police cell on July 19. I bought tobacco for him, only to be told by the cops on duty that tobacco was not allowed to be given to inmates. Does the inspector general know about it? Because other Police cells are different. Why only Katima? Help please.* SHOPRITE Ondangwa manager must know that searching workers in between their legs is against the labour laws. Please stop the primitive practice.* HOW can the Oshakati Police charge someone with murder when he tried to protect his own? In the Constitution we do have the right to defend ourselves. Correct?* TO Permanent Secretary Mbeuta Uandjarakana: if the president is the head of the state for 24/7 then he has to come to Okahandja and see with his own eyes how the poor are living, or even you yourself. And if you are a real leader, come and make a difference.Disconnections* RUKAVANGO Radio Service is a nightmare in Otjozondjupa. Why is this? It’s election time and we need to be informed and educated. Even on the surrounding farms in Otjiwarongo the majority of labourers are Kavango speaking. Please help us.General* DEAR editor, can the recently reinstated CEO of TransNamib and the chairperson of the board recuse themselves from their positions until the controversy surrounding their names is cleared.- Concerned Namibian* I WANT want to find out if there is a gym for children?* THE Namibian should start a ‘Why?’ column. My first question would be: Why do security guards, road workers, etc, have to pay for their uniforms and city councillors and others get a clothing allowance. 2. Why blame violence on the apartheid era when the whole world is rocking with violence. Maybe I will send a Why? question every day.- Why not? – Newsdesk* TO the person who saw a lady steal a jacket from Edgars – seeing a crime and failing to report it makes you as guilty as the person doing the stealing. Silence makes us accomplices.Seal Culling* WHAT’S the fuss re the journalists filming the slaughter of seals? Show the world what Namibia is doing! Slaughter!Education* IT is not only the learners drinking in broad daylight at sports events. Today, three teachers were smoking in the staff room at Dawid Bezuidenhout. What a shame! To think that we entrust our children to such drug (yes, cigarettes are drugs!) addicts! MOE do something!Health Matters* RUNDU State Hospital! Referring to The Namibian of July 17. Not only do you wait hours to be helped, emergency services are slow. The place needs a good cleanup and paint job. I feel sorry for the women and children who have to recover in such conditions, not even to talk about the food. But I have to say in the same breath that the high care unit is in a much better condition and that you get better service there! Please do something, stop making war rather spend money on health care!Road Hogs* TAXI drivers suffering from getting tickets from the cops? If you taxi drivers would learn how to drive and where to stop you wouldn’t have to ‘suffer’!Labour Issues* NAPWU – tell us why we the workers of the Otjiwarongo Town Council, who are members of the union, have to do without a branch organiser and at times shop stewards who were never trained. When will we get a branch organiser? What happened to our concerns taken by Comrade (Evilastus) Kaaronda to you. We have waited patiently and our patience is running low. Is it GIPF keeping you busy.- Concerned worker, Otjiwarongo* TUN please come to the North, there many members who want to join.* CAN someone explain to us which criteria TransNamib is using in filling the advertised vacancies. Those who apply, write tests and even go for interviews fail, but those who never apply get the job! Ondangwa !!Lost And Found* MR VS Shitaatala has lost all his personal documents in Windhoek. If found please contact 081-250-7397 or 081-258-4202* CAN the one who sent an SMS to Omulunga Radio saying that he found the documents of Naftal Shetwaadha send a short SMS to The Namibian or contact this number please: 081-329-5704
