SMSes for Thursday 20 December 2012

SMS Of The Day
*POLITICAL Office Bearers get salary hikes of over 50 percent! This is the joke of the year. About 84 percent to the Auditor General, ministers and others. They claim it’s because of the inflation. If inflation can affect a monthly salary of over N$68 000 how much worse can it affect poor civil servants who earn so much less than that and are forced and threatened to accept the shameful eight percent. Do our leaders know what the Gini coefficient is? The huge gap is widening. The poor will remain poor and rich will get richer. Where is our country going?

Food for Thought*I WONDER if it’s true that the world is really ending on December 21. I don’t believe that Jesus is coming because only God knows when Jesus is coming!*HOW on earth do you grant bail to a rapist of a 13-year-old girl in Keetmanshoop? This is really miserable!*THE woman who stabbed her boyfriend to death would have become another statistic this past weekend. It is so unfair to keep her in police custody while she has a two month old baby. The police should be serious when called by the public. The death could be blamed on City Police negligence. Now you see what happened! Shame on you, City Police!Bouquets and Brickbats*POLICE and NDF officers should stop gaining weight so fast! There is a reason why they are taken to six months training.*CONGRATULATIONS comrade Jacob Zuma. You are the right man to take the ANC further.*SOME African leaders are cowards. You are not telling Mugabe the truth. He has messed up a lot of innocent people in Zimbabwe. That is how you let Gaddafi kill himself. Mugabe has lost our respect.*THANK you to the Supreme Court for showing us that the life of a person is valid in Namibia. Keep it up! Now Lazarus Shaduka cannot blame his gun nor his money. Everyone must eat his/her sins. Justice is served now!*HOW on earth did Lazarus Shaduka get off so easy? Our justice system is failing us! My husband has been in custody in Katima Mulilo for nine months without bail. He is a Namibian citizen by birth. I fail to understand how it works, my toddler and I are really suffering because of the situation! Yeah, Shaduka got away. My husband and many others that do not pose a flight risk and have small cases are kept in custody for months or years! It’s so unfair towards poor people!*WHY do some entities even bother to congratulate Hage Geingob on his victory if it is so late? It seems rather unnecessary for me. Get over it. He is in office, whether you like it or not.*PEOPLE, let’s not lie! Somebody helped Lazarus Shaduka escape! Did we bother to freeze his accounts? *’THE World According to Garp’, ‘Teen Spirit’, ‘Easy A’ and all the old reruns on DStv are driving me up the wall! Is this the entertainment they are talking about and why we pay the high premiums?Education*UNAM, to my disappointment, I failed a module today which I was supposed to write supplementary examinations for. This is not fair, I surely checked at 11h00, on November 15 but the results were not there. Do you really want me to pay for that module even though you let us know late? How should people know whether they will write supplementaries a day before. Do something about supplementary exams early next year. We are tired of your poor office and staff work. I’m sure a lot are behind me. Nonsense!*WE, the parents whose children are at IUM are really fed up with the poor service. Until now, some of the children haven’t received their full refunds, only those at IUM in Ongwediva.*WHAT are Grade 5 pupils at AI Steenkamp doing with red and blue pens? I do not think it is the responsibility of parents to buy teacher’s stationary and cleaning materials while contributing towards the school development fund. The Ministry of Education should come up with a standardised plan please! The demands of this school are outrageous.*MINISTRY of Education, in particular those officials who are never in their offices. Please give us answers on when our study loans will be paid. We have not received our exam results yet due to your snail-paced work. Polytechnic is closing this Friday, and we have nothing to present to our families. Please!Suggestion Box*MINISTRY of Safety and Security please send the Aus community better police officers because some officers are disrespectful and are beating people. They work very slowly on their cases. Come on people, do something please.*MVA should consider getting an easy number for your accident response. Most people will not remember that number out of their heads at any given time.*PENDUKENI Iivula-Ithana, take a leaf from what Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma did to turn the South African Department of Home Affairs and surely you’ll clean up the mess. You can do it!Service Please*WE would like someone to tell us the exact fare between Khorixas and Otjiwarongo. We are paying N$120 and N$80. Please Nabta, help us out.*POOR planning and poor service delivery is the order of the day. The pavement construction in Claudius Kandovazu Street in Wanaheda ended up incomplete because the materials ran out and the workers went on holiday. We are left with the inconvenience while getting into our yards and have to bear it until late next year. That is the problem with get rich quick deals.*WHAT is going on? Some schools in rural areas did not get their bush allowance for 2010. I would like to know what happened to that money reserved for those schools, because some schools got it. It’s not fair.*LEGAL Shield should be fair to their clients. Imagine, I have been paying since 2005 but was in arrears for a month in August 2012, but now my civil claim of November 2012 cannot be processed due to the arrears I had in August. Now I will not be covered for any problem for three months while they are deducting for that period.- Concerned client.*THE young woman in charge of loan payments at the Polytechnic of Namibia should do her job, you clearly stated that our loans would be paid last week and Polytechnic closes on Friday. Stop locking yourself in your office and kindly do what’s expected of you.*THERE are a lot of illegal taxis in Windhoek, City Police must do something because we make efforts for our taxis to be properly licensed while others opt for short cuts.Labour*WILL President Hifikepunye Pohamba okay the high increases for politicians while his people are unemployed with no housing and are eating from the dumpsite?*PRESIDENT Hifikepunye Pohamba, please we are waiting anxiously for our back pay. Please let Friday be the final day, we also want to have a good Christmas.*THE civil servants are soon getting what is owed to them, I however am very disappointed in the National Planning Commission for not paying the extra three days to the 2011 Census Officials. We were paid after two days of the end of the census so it was practically impossible that those three days were included in that money. You guys have no professionalism to tell us if it was part of the last payment. GRN entities must stop treating their servants like fools!Response to Previous SMSes*WHO said Katutura’s name must be changed? Historical names that are part of our struggle can never be changed. If the South African regime did not change it, we surely can not change our own history!*FELLOW Namibians, what are we going to teach our children in history classes if people want to change the name Katutura? Let’s leave it as it is, to honour the memory of our people who suffered in that area and fought for our country. Why can’t people come up with another new location and give it the name they want.Politics*WHY is McHenry Venaani comparing himself to Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana and Jerry Ekandjo? We know that he will become the president of DTA. That is why he is sure of winning.*’TAKE me back, I’ll be good’ – Julius Malema. Let this be a good lesson and wake up call to Namibian political party youth league leaders who think they are above their party and it’s seniors. Stop copying the ANCYL. The price is too high to repair the pain caused.*JOB Amupanda, you have good leadership qualities but please stop calling people imbeciles and idiots, don’t fall into the unruly manners of hate and bitterness in your speeches. It makes you sound like a veteran and takes away the inspiration you are trying to give the youth.*CAN somebody please help me and explain wether the Swapo Youth League has perhaps lost vision. I am referring to their idea of a statue for Sam Nujoma instead of coming up with constructive ideas such as youth development, education, job creation and many more. They are rather concentrating on issues that do not make sense. Enough has been done for Nujoma, what about the Andimba Toivo Ya Toivos, Samuel Mahareros or the Hosea Kutakos?Lost and Found*I FOUND CJC Mouton’s Driving Licence and Klaaste John’s National ID and bank card in Windhoek.
