* WHENEVER Cassinga Day is celebrated, the survivors are interviewed by NBC and asked questions like have they forgiven and forgotten their attackers. Most of them say have forgiven but can’t forget what happened that day. I want to know from those people who attacked Cassinga whether there is even one who can come on NBC to be interviewed and also ask for forgiveness.

How can you forgive a person who has not asked to be forgiven? Reconciliation should come from both parties involved.
Food For Thought
* I WANT to thank you for the constant reports on murders. This is the worst societal ill. It threatens us all. Disrespect for the sanctity of life of others is an abominable sin punishable by death (in other societies) but then again, if killing is so much a sin, killing a killer remains so.
Bouquets And Brickbats
* THANK you Auntie for information on the Cassinga child survivor. Please provide the photo to The Namibian for publication.
* CITY Police, thank you for satellite station in Khomasdal. Keep up your good work.
* WELL done Mrs (Veronica) de Klerk. What a brilliant idea [national youth service], we thank God for a blessing like you. We support you in trying to make a change in Namibia. – S Kapitango
* NORED Ongwediva, thank you for always responding to our power outages so promptly, no matter the time. I really appreciate it. Without your good service, we might have permanent electrical failures. – Ongwediva College resident
Talk To The Nation
* IS it true that NBC is a national broadcaster? If so what happened to the RDP rally that took place at Ohangwena? Not yet shown on NBC TV since Saturday only SPYL and Swapo activities. Is that a way to hide the truth from the electorate? Shame on NBC TV.
* WE want to see the visuals of RDP rally held at Helao Nafidi town the last weekend. For us not belonging to any political party, but eligible voters it is crucial that the national broadcaster play a neutral role by covering all events leading to the elections.
* NBC TV, why are programmes such Afro Connection being repeated? We want to see new videos rather than watching something we watched 2008.
* NBC do you want everybody to own a DStv in order to watch NBC in Outapi.
Signs Of The Times
* IT is a pity to find that a company erected signposts with wrongly spelt names. Imagine awarding a tender to such a disorganised set-up whose base should be correct signposting. One wonders where we are going (obviously backsliding into abyss).
* STREET names spelled incorrectly. Is it possible that such mistakes can occur? What happened to proofreading, double-checking, a second opinion, etc.
* WHEN European names are misspelled there is a national outcry in the very same newspapers that misspell African languages on daily basis. Is nothing wrong with Oshikati and Otjimise? – Mistakes, spelling or otherwise, in any language are not on. We should be doing our best, on every occasion, to get correct name spellings from the people themselves and with place names ask those speaking the language to assist. There should be no excuse. – Newsdesk
Running The Show
* HOW can Deputy Minister Uutoni Nujoma conceivably claim the Pope only talks about contraception in Africa, not Europe or America? The man is incredibly badly informed! This Pope and all his predecessors have spoken on the topic all over the world for the last 100 years at least because it is church dogma independently of any Pope. Let the minister phone our local cardinal before he alleges such wild conspiracies to the Catholic Church. In fact the RC Church is nowadays dominated by South America and Africa – not Europe and the USA!
* AGREE fully that money is not everything as far as educational outcome is concerned! However a learner without a textbook will find it harder to learn! Money is needed to provide instructional materials! If you have a magic bullet to fix education contact (Education) Minister (Nangolo) Mbumba! – Omukwashigwana
* MINISTRY of Home Affairs, we are still waiting for the ID mobile office. Please, we want to vote.
* MINISTRY of Home Affairs, we tired of waiting for birth certificates to be released. I applied for a birth certificate for my daughter on November 23 2008 from the Home Affairs Ministry at Walvis Bay. The officers here at Walvis Bay gave me the telephone number 061 2922164 for the birth certificate department at the Ministry’s headquarters. I phoned several times, nobody attended to the calls. Where must I go to get help?
Politics
* PLEASE dear Namibians let’s ask our beloved Founding President (Sam) Nujoma to gracefully retire from politics. He is still talking the politics of the 1960s: Imperialism and colonialism.
* WHAT is this? I was shocked to witness Dr Sam Nujoma command (Health) Minister (Richard) Kamwi to fire lazy health workers during a recent graduation ceremony of health workers in the capital Windhoek. If he can do that what is (President Hifikepunye) Pohamba’s duty? Please don’t interfere and meddle in duties that are far from your reach.- A keen observer.
* WHAT a joke of the year as the Founding Father tells the nursing graduates that the Health Minister must fire all lazy nurses at the hospitals. Why is he not saying that the President should fire all the ministers who are sleeping on duty in Parliament. Who is the President of this country anyway? To my understanding ministers are accountable to a sitting president not to someone who is supposedly in retirement. Why we don’t we see Comrade (Andimba) ya Toivo doing so when he is also on retirement or (President Nelson) Mandela for that matter.
* I CHALLENGE Ms Gwen Lister to retire and give a chance to the young blood (can be her kids or one of her current managers) so that we can see how strong The Namibian is without you in its leadership, because she was forcing Mr Nujoma to retire, what he did peacefully. And Swapo is still going stronger everyday. Now is your chance, please follow his good example and retire now! I know you won’t print this SMS so that I can ‘tell it like it is’, as you do!
Politics In General
* NELSON Mandela well known for all the good reasons, Jacob Zuma for all bad reasons and Thabo Mbeki for good and bad. How funny.
Children Of The Struggle
* CAN any orphan from the liberation struggle who went on to complete his/her studies come out and tell the nation how s/he managed to do that without crying for the Government’s mercy. I strongly believe there are such people out there. We do concur with the children born in exile’s plea for jobs but not to such an extent of blocking roads.- EVM, Otjinene.
* WAR veterans’ kids we are told to be patient. Why is it that you are finding it hard to wait for what you claim to have been promised by the Swapo GRN? Plase I urge you, don’t ruin our reputations with your intolerable and unruly behaviour in the society. Go back to your homes and wait. – Klaudy
* THE so-called struggle children, or shall I say adults, must realise after the teargas incident that they are no special case. They are lazy, rude, ill-disciplined and arrogant, and have lost my sympathy. Grow up and fend for your selves like all other Namibians. Nobody owes you anything
* I DO understand the camping of the children of the liberation struggle. We are also some of them. Again we have certificates and we do not have work. We suffer like them, but do we camp?
* THESE liberation struggle stories are really tiring. I am also a child of the liberation struggle but here I am a graduate as an enrolled nurse/midwife on May 6 without demanding something from (Founding President) Sam Nujoma. That’s what my mother would have wanted after fighting for us. – Pamela
* I WONDER if the struggle kids are provided with condoms. Many of them are pregnant and some have babies. Ministry of Health please take care of them because they left their guidance at their houses.
* POLICE, NDF, Prison Service, Government cleaners and others, let our Government reduce their years of service to 45, 50 or 55 so the war veterans’ kids can take over.
In And From The Regions
* RUNDU Town Council property office you’re not doing your job as the way suppose to be done. I applied for an erf three months ago, up to date I never got an answer. When I ask about my applications they just tell me ‘don’t waste your time coming here keep going at post we will send a letter’. I urge that, if they don’t want to give me a plot better they tell me.
General
* MULTICHOICE please make the Open Time a bit longer. At least two hours because we can’t wake up so early and watch a movie halfway.
Labour Issues
* I WANT to know why transport allowance for the Police officer is no more there and they are 24 hours on duty. You can be called to report at work and sometimes you have to go with tax. Was this the decision of the Government or is only the ministry itself?
ACC Alert
* HI The Namibian, can you please help with the ACC’s toll-free number? – The number is: 0800 222 888. It can only be dialled from a landline, not from a cellphone.- Newsdesk
Education
* CORPORAL punishment should be banned from schools around the world. Children suffer from mental, physical and emotional damage from being beaten. Please Child Welfare help us.- Diego Gonzaléz Rodriguez
* WHEN are the five computers that were donated to Mbambazi Primary School in Caprivi Region going to be used? For almost three years since they were received they are still packed in their cartons at the school.
* I AM a concerned mother from Omaruru. I registered my child to re-write her Grade 12 at IOL but still she didn’t get her books and they are already deducting my money. Are they there for money or for quality education? Someone please help. I am tired of this bad service.
Please help!
* CAN anyone help to find a 54-year-old San man by the name of !Amace or Qamace Nqeici who was transferred from Grootfontein hospital to a Windhoek hospital on April 19. Nobody knows to which hospital he was taken. His Afrikaans name is Rinus. His surname can also be spelled Njeisi. His family does not know where he is. Call 081-273-4606. His name on ID is Xamasje Nxuise, 56041000388.
Sporting
* CAN Mr JJ Doeseb and the management of Eleven Arrows football club and Bizhub Konica Minolta please tell me when the competition to win a Bantam bakkie plus other 21 prizes that ended last year 16 August 2008 will have their draw for the winners? Please publish this. – Very Concerned Support, Erongo region
* THE Craven Week rugby team was announced on April 25 2009. I never read anything about it in a newspaper. Please.- We will follow up and publish the information when we get it. – Sportdesk
