* THE article in Friday’s Namibian about the illicit ‘NWR partnership’ once more reveals the need for an open, tolerant political landscape. Instead of slamming each other with scare tactics and screams, let us engage in open, constructive dialogue. Namibia needs it in order to move forward.
Food For Thought* HI Namibians, let us never cast our votes out of fear. But let us never fear to cast our votes. – Stu NWR Affair* I CONGRATULATE John Grobler for a brilliantly researched and professionally investigated article in The Namibian of September 18. The article graphically exposed the insidious web of corruption allowing Swapo and family members to acquire State assets under the guise of the discredited BEE policy. Please note that Tonata Emvula is the niece of Tobie Aupindi’s mother. It should surprise no one that Swapo did not learn the lesson of recent history of a change of government in Zambia. All government assets corruptly and fraudulently acquired for the Unip Party under (former President Kenneth) Kaunda were repossessed by the Chiluba government. The arrogance of power breeds corruption. That is what is happening in Namibia under the slumbering watch of President (Hifikepunye) Pohamba.* THE Government is really watching the country being sold though deals and organised crime. The NWR case in Friday’s edition is an eye opener. Why can’t we vote for change, we citizens!!!!* NWR resorts at Etosha are so dirty and I don’t see the reason why some people are praising the MD [Tobie Aupindi]. All the grass parks are dead and dry. Something has to be done to rectify the situation and clean up the places in Etosha.* ENQUIRY on the awarding of the MWR Tenders. If irregularities are found, it should be exposed and such tenders rendered null and void. It is the right thing to do. It is interesting that Elijah Ngurare’s wedding was attended by various beneficiaries of NWR deals, i.e. [MD Tobie] Aupindi and John Walenga.- Puzzled, Windhoek* MCA dollars have started to flow. Those who shamelessly attacked the Honourable Minister Helmut Angula shall quietly enjoy MCA benefits, directly or indirectly. What do they have to say about the NWR and the well-connected fat cats?* NOW the nation knows why investigative journalist John Grobler is under attack. He is exposing the elite fat cats. Friday’s article on the people behind the selling-off of State assets says it all! Tobie Aupindi involved, how is it even possible? He is the MD of NWR. How can he even make an objective assessment of the tender if he was involved? And the PS of MET, [Kalumbi] Shangula, don’t they know anything about conflict of interests. Surely they should not have participated in the first place? And the advert only in the papers once? And proposals to be within one day? How can anyone come up with a comprehensive bid in one day, unless of course you had prior knowledge of the tender. According to Grobler, none of the companies even met the pre-qualifying criteria which means that they should not have been eligible for bidding in the first place! The right thing would be an independent inquiry.Election Fever* PLEASE ECN let us [the nation] know, whether it is still NamPrint [a Swapo company] who going to print this year’s ballot papers? Why are you still quiet? Let us know that you are still controlled by Swapo and favoured by Swapo.Hot DebateThink about third-hand smoke* TO the ‘Smelly Smoker’. ‘Third hand smoke: Residual tobacco smoke contamination that remains after the cigarette is extinguished.’ The residue contains heavy metals, carcinogens and radioactive material. It’s left behind on surfaces, skin, clothes and hair. Exposed persons absorb it through the skin or inhale it. It is very dangerous to small children and can cause SIDS in infants. * I WANT to congratulate (Health) Minister (Richard) Kamwi for introducing the smoking act. It’s harmful to health. You must deal with the traditional doctors. It’s your high time to clean Namibia, our Minister. Ex-Soldiers On The March* HOW on earth do you destroy such important documents (SA Min of Finance). The Namibian, who can really help us?- Veteran Eichab DBouquets And Brickbats* THANK you Woermann Brock for getting peas back in your freezer.* I LOOK forward to seeing huge changes in our education, tourism and agriculture sectors through the Millennium Challenge Account activation. Many thanks to the US Government. We just pray that these billions be invested as was intended so that all concerned can benefit! – Delphia* HOW good is life with honest, sincere and committed people. Dr Kakungulu! Medical superintendent of Intermediate Hospital Oshakati. We can’t thank you enough for the big change you brought in our hospital. You are the hand of God to us. We salute you! Keep up the good work. – Psychiatric nurse* FYSAL Fresh Mini Market, thanks a lot for the service I was given by your workers at Ondangwa yesterday [Saturday]. Keep it up. A good example. Salute you.- Selma Ndaafa OnanonaPolitics* NO wonder there is so much noise from the SPYL and their cronies about the transfer of assets from the MET to NMR, and them wanting MCA tourism objectives. Swapo owns the damn thing privately.* ELIJAH Ngurare of SPYL has no respect for Rev Konjore and his dignity. I never heard him complaining about the non-delivering and controversial governor Katrina Hanse-Himarwa.- Toto, Mariental * NGURARE vs Konjore. It’s unheard of, unAfrican and worst of all immoral for an African child to publicly insult an adult even in politics. Ngurare is going too far. Swapo should explain its policy now of disrespect. Ngurare must be brought to order.* WHAT is happening in the Swapo-led Government is like on a soccer pitch – whatever the referee decides cannot be disputed by any player, or even a coach, otherwise you are carded. In this case Swapo is the referee and the players are the Namibian nation, while the coaches are the opposition leaders. We have to dance to the tune of Swapo music whether you like it or not.* I THINK from now on all political parties are free to accept any donation from foreigners, money or in kind with the example from the mother party Swapo. Thank you Swapo for opening the door. Thank you Comrade [Hifikepunye] Pohamba! * VOTE. Vote for whom now? I really do not care who you vote for. People must vote to show their interest. We need to vote for food and equal employment distribution. Poverty eradication is also very important.Spy Bill* I AM a proud SPYL member but I disagree with the so-called Spy Bill. If America has a draconian Patriot Act is that reason enough for Namibia to copy? America invaded Iraq and Namibia is going to invade a country on that basis? Please people, I know that some clauses are good but interception is draconian. Why is President Pohamba tainting his legacy with draconian interception legislation?* NAMIBIANS let’s open our eyes and put a red stamp on this Spy Bill issue. They want to take our freedom away. Swapo wants to bring the apartheid system back in Namibia. Let them concentrate on the millions that go missing every year. And start creating more employment in different ministries. * SPY Bill: As the Ombudsman John Walters said, the Spy Bill violates the Constitution of this State and if it happens that simply means that the Constitution is not a Supreme Law of Namibia as Article 1(6) says.- Elia ML* MADAM Gwen, if this Spy Bill gets to be passed, the next thing we want to see is you in Parliament to defend our rights under the party called ‘Voice of the voiceless’ because surely passing that bill means bye to our freedom. – PendaCity Fathers Please…* DRIVING through the City of Windhoek one cannot fail to notice that there must be two sets of traffic rules tolerated by the traffic officials. Can the City please publish the rules applicable for BMWs, taxis and light delivery vans so that we ordinary road users can inform ourselves what we have to tolerate when driving in the City?* CITY Police must allocate mobile stations all over the city, especially at those locations on the city’s edges!- IA, Windhoek* POLICE, please take care of Havana location. As a Namibian citizen and a Havana resident, I want to ask the Police where do people get guns in Havana every night? There are gunshots so that we don’t get peaceful sleep. There are so many securities in Havana as well as police, but maybe they don’t hear gunshots every night. Take fast action please City Police and Police. We don’t feel like independent Namibians. Thank you.- Frieda K* THE ‘municipality flowers’ at the Kudu statue are lovely. Thanks for brightening up our city.Health Matters* PLEASE help us ARV people! We need help from our GRN. We do not have money to collect our pills. We don’t have money to pay transport. We need two hundred per month. We are suffering too much. What can we do? We need to reach the hospital at the right time. Please we need help. We are the same as others. HIV people we suffer.Running The Show* AUCTION of the GRN. Why was the auction not advertised on the radio and in the newspapers? We have a problem with that, because with the cars and other things, the richest people bought everything. Imagine one person buying five cars? What about the poor? * MINISTER of Fisheries and Marine watchdog committee (fisheries observers). Do you really care about the nation starving of hunger? I worry about fish heads being thrown in the water, hake and snoek heads are delicious. Please that must end. Our people can also afford to buy these heads. No more wasting our resources.Sporting* BLACK Africa is still playing the most attractive and skilful football despite referees’ poor decisions against them. Referees are way below the standard level or maybe they are way above the corrupt standards.- Kauno* CONGRATULATIONS to BA for the launch of the club’s fund-raising where we can win a BMW 320i. A good example for fellow clubs.- DOK, Walvis General* IN southern African monetary terms, a thousand million is not a billion but a milliard or 0,1 billion. See article on MCA fund today.* WHO is responsible for the Supreme Court outside? Support services look into it please.* CONTRADICTIONS in terms: Fair Trade and Trade Fair.* HELMUTH, when you wait too long, get out and jog further. Bear in mind, just at the following T-Junction at the ‘Poly’s’ gate, the taxis treat it as a taxi rank, causing others to be late! All Creatures Great And SmallChased from their natural habitat* NOW elephants are problem animals after being driven off their natural habitats. The solution lies in preventing humans from invading animal territory. Also humans must have understanding for animal rules and behaviours. Poor Strepe.
