SKW to plot BA downfall

SKW to plot BA downfall

SPORT Klub Windhoek co-coaches Lucky Kakuva and Rolf Beiter, will have a massive task to disrupt the shrewd tactics of Black Africa coach Ali Akan when the two sides clash in an MTC Namibia Premier League match tonight.

Kick-off is at 20h00 at the SKW Stadium.SKW will aim to extend their five-point lead at the top of the table, while BA will aim to move into third spot as they are currently fourth behind Civics. BA will be joint on 35 points with the Civilians if they win, while SKW will sit on 45 points from 18 matches in case of a victory.Kakuva and Beiter have done extremely well to lead the side into a commanding position since the start of the season and their results have been phenomenal so far. They only have three losses from their 17 matches, compared to BA who have suffered five defeats from the same number of matches.Despite that record, the two co-coaches have to find a strategy to plot the downfall of Black Africa who have proven to be on fire in their recent matches, let alone their 4-2 loss to Eleven Arrows in the Cell One NFA Cup a fortnight ago.Last week, BA swept aside Tigers 2-0 in the league, a result that showed the importance they place on going for the league title.Akan joined the ‘Lively Lions’ in the second round of the league and they have not dropped points since then.Black Africa rely heavily on their midfield, which is controlled by Lolo Goraseb and Brian Bantam, while further attacks to find the net are also launched from the wings. Those are the areas that SKW have to work on but they also have to find someone who can shut out BA’s red-hot predator Jerome Louis.Louis, the best striker in the country at the moment, attacks from the centre of the park and has been deadly from any angle with his trickery and nifty footwork. Most of his shots are on target if they don’t turn into goals.SKW also have to deal with an extremely enterprising BA midfield, which seems to play with absolute ease at times.Although SKW have the best defence in the league so far with only 10 goals conceded, they still need to tighten up as Akan and his men are unpredictable customers on any given day.Akan will also deploy his best defence, which is led by Moses Katjiteo, but they have to be wary of SKW’s top goal scorer and captain in Marco van Wyk, who has proved a handful for many teams.Van Wyk is a workhorse and is a great inspiration for any team. He has proven that time and again and this has earned him a place in the national team. The match will otherwise be open on many fronts, but it will all depend on the tactics of the three coaches, as both teams are attack-minded and have solid defences. A competent referee will also add to an exciting match, while a decent crowd can bring out the best from the players.
