Six take own lives over weekend

Six people died by suicide in separate incidents over the past weekend.

This was confirmed in the weekend crime report by police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi.

According to Shikwambi, a 24-year-old man identified as Kautondokwa Shipena took his own life at the Tobias Hainyeko location at Outapi on Friday.

In another incident, it is alleged that 72-year-old Tjfaku Liu took his own life on Friday at Kaguni village at Ncaute.

Shikwambi said the motive is not known and there was no suicide note left behind. Liu’s next of kin have been informed.

In a separate incident, it is alleged that a 45-year-old man identified as Erastus Shiwedha took his own life at Lishanaputa at Omahene on Friday.

Shikwambi said the deceased was at home alone at the time of the incident, and his next of kin have been informed.

On Saturday, a 34-year-old man identified as Amupolo David also died by suicide at Oshakati.

“It is alleged that a suicide note was left behind. His next of kin were informed and police investigations continue,” she said.

Shikwambi said a 40-year-old woman allegedly took her own life at Ouma village at Outapi on Saturday.

She has been identified as Marcellina Aluvilu.

At Onanghulo village in Eenhana, 80-year-old Jeutkus Mwandingi took his own life on Sunday.

“No foul play is suspected and his next of kin were informed,” said Shikwambi.
