Shipahu recalled for Zambia clash

INTERIM head coach Bernard Kaanjuka yesterday recalled Tangeni Shipahu to the Brave Warriors fold for next month’s friendly international against Zambia.

The Thailand-based striker was axed from the team which played Rwanda last month after taking to social network site Facebook to criticise the manner in which the Brave Warriors are managed.Team manager Tim Isaacs said the ‘misunderstanding’ had been put to bed, paving the way for Shipahu’s return.’I think that the fact that he appears on the list of players called up is self-explanatory,’ Isaacs told The Namibian Sport yesterday.’The coach has the prerogative to call up any player he wants for the Brave Warriors. Whatever misunderstanding there was has been ironed out. It was obviously not in the best interest of either party or the team if this issue was not resolved.’Also returning to the national fold are Black Africa winger Eslin Kamuhanga and South African-based goalkeeper Efriam Tjihonge, who replaces Arnold Subeb.The rest of the squad remains unchanged from that which forced a 2-2 draw in Kigali.The players are expected to report for camp on January 2 at NFA Soccer House.Namibia, who dropped 4 places on the Fifa rankings to 121 yesterday, play Zambia at the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga, South Africa on January 15.In the training camp are: Goalkeepers – Efriam Tjihonge (Milano United, South Africa), Virgil Vries (Orlando Pirates);Defenders – Willem Mwedihanga (Tigers), Larry Horaeb (Ramblers), Da Costa Angula (Black Africa), Denzil Haoseb (Black Africa), Jamunovandu Ngatjizeko (African Stars), Teberius Lombard (Tura Magic);Midfielders – Willy Stephanus (Black Africa), Petrus Shitembi (Rundu Chiefs), Eslin Kamuhanga (Black Africa), Ronald Ketjijere (University of Pretoria, South Africa), Heini Isaacks (Civics), Lazarus Kaimbi (Osotspa, Thailand), Neville Tjiueza (Tura Magic), Emilio Martin (Ramblers) .Strikers – Sadney Urikhob (Civics), Henrico Botes (Platinum Stars, South Africa), Rudolf Bester (Orlando Pirates, South Africa), and Tangeni Shipahu (Osotspa, Thailand).
