Shihepo calls out Simon

WILBERFORCE Shihepo has challenged Harry Simon to a fight, saying his first-round victory against Ruben Groenewald of South Africa last Saturday was a hoax.

Shihepo, who is currently the Interim WBO Africa Super Middleweight champion, said he was not impressed by Simon’s performance and that he was over the hill.’I’m very disappointed with this fight that Harry put up, it’s like I’m hurt. He’s trying to confuse the nation, but we who love the sport can do better than that,’ he said.’So now I am ready to fight Harry in September. I’m going to go up in weight to where Harry is because he won’t make the Super Middleweight limit so I have to go up to look for him where he is,’ he addedShihepo said Simon was over the hill and challenged him to a fight.’Harry is fighting retired boxers, he is not fighting someone who is still improving like me. He is just choosing people whom he can beat, so now I will choose him. If he is still Harry Simon, if he is still a good boxer, he must come to show the nation that he is still Harry,’ he said.’I want to challenge Harry. I’m so hungry for Harry now. This is my time, it’s not Harry’s time anymore. Harry is not the Harry Simon of 1998 when he won the world title. This is 2012 and this is my time,’ he said.Shihepo, who has a professional record of 17 wins and 6 defeats, is known for his powerful punches, with 14 of his victories coming via knockout. In his last fight on January 14, he beat Janos Olah of Hungary on a first-round technical knockout when the referee stopped the fight after only 2 minutes 27 seconds. He won the Interim WBO Africa Super Middleweight title in March 2011 when he beat Donald Kampamba on a ninth round TKO. Since then he has defended the title twice, beating Sunday Ajuwa of Nigeria on a second round KO on September 24 and Johannes Pietersen of South Africa on a fifth-round technical knockout on November 5.He has won his last five fights while his last defeat came against Emmanuel Duma in May 2009 when he was disqualified for hitting Duma with a late blow after he had knocked him down to the canvas.According to the latest WBO rankings, he is ranked 13th in the world in the Super Middleweight category which has a weight limit of 76,20 kg. – namibiasport.com.na
