Seaflower White Fish Company at Lüderitz has informed its workers that their monthly salaries, due on Thursday, would be delayed.
The company’s management in an internal memorandum issued on Tuesday said the delay is due to financial problems the company is experiencing.
The delay has also been communicated to the board of directors so that it could be addressed as a matter of urgency.
The company has advised employees to make the necessary arrangements with their banks.
A disgruntled worker said the timing of the announcement a day before payday raises concern.
“We have worked throughout year to make money for the company. It therefore puzzles us that it is experiencing financial difficulties,” the worker said. The company is 100% owned by the Fishing Corporation of Namibia.
