Today England were welcomed to Rugby World Cup 2015 as part of their official Welcome Ceremony at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

The ceremony saw the England squad arrive at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst to be greeted by a choir from Longcroft School from Beverley, East Yorkshire, performing World In Union in front of an audience including figures from World Rugby, England Rugby 2015 and the RFU, as well as the player ‘s families and the local community.

Following welcome speeches, from World Rugby Board Member, Michael Hawker and RFU President, Jason Leonard, each member of the team was presented with a Tournament cap and Rugby World Cup 2015 participation medal. There were four cap and medal bearers who were selected from local clubs and educational institutions, representing the legacy of Rugby World Cup 2015.

Speaking during the ceremony, England captain, Chris Robshaw, said: “To be here along with other 30 players at the official Welcome Ceremony and receive our caps is a truly memorable moment for any player. We ‘re proud to be here and to be going to go out there and make you as proud as possible over next coming weeks.

As teams start to arrive, you can truly feel the momentum building, and we ‘re sure there ‘ll be more of the same a week yesterday. A big thank you to Longcroft School for what was an awesome performance. ” – rugbyworldcup.com
