Rugby tickets on sale at union office

THE Namibia Rugby Union yesterday officially started the sale of tickets for the much-anticipated 2011 Rugby World Cup Qualifier between Ivory Coast and Namibia at the Hage Geingob Stadium in Windhoek on Saturday.

‘We had some issues with the ticket sales for our last match here against the South Africans. Some of these have since been resolved and corrected and we are confident that we have minimised any further inconvenience to our spectators this time around’, said Jerry Elago, spokesperson for the NRU. Tickets will also be sold at the gates on match day. Main stand tickets will only be sold through the (NRU) offices at the Hage Geingob Stadium. ‘We are busy testing a new ticketing and computerised booking system. Therefore all tickets will only be on sale at the NRU offices or the ticket booths at the stadium entrances,’ said Sarel Losper, NRU vice president. No free seating tickets will be sold for the main stand. Spectators can choose which seat they want when they buy their ticket, and be assured that the requested seat is allocated to them. ‘Our advantage is that we can adapt quite quickly to the needs of our spectators. Following our post-match assessment, we could focus on making the necessary changes to our booking system to ease the strain on our clients,’ said Losper. Tickets are available at N$20 for the open stand and N$50 for the main stand. The gates at the stadium will open at 12h00 and the match will start at 16h00.The NRU offices are at Lichtenstein Street, Olympia and the contact numbers are 251 775 / 251 717, e-mail: nru@internet.com.na. The union’s spokesperson, Jerry Elago, can also be reached at 081 129 5264 or on e-mail: elagoj@gmail.com
