The Doc Jubber Hockey Fields played host to a festival of sound and shiny cars as Windhoek’s legion of tuners descended on the field for the Ricky’s Custom Car Shop Birthday Showfest.
For the second year running, the event attracted large crowds of car fanatics, many of whom competed for prizes ranging from highest DBs recorded at the sound off to the pick of the show, which went to a Zirk Coetzee’s impeccable ST.
Also attracting a lot of attention was a custom built VW Beetle hotrod show car that was raffled off for the price of N$100 per ticket.
Car modification and tuning have exploded in popularity in recent years, thanks in part to maverick car customisers like Ricky’s Custom Car Shop.
