ReconAfrica CEO meets NNN, pledging collaboration with government

A delegation from Reconnaissance Energy Africa (ReconAfrica), the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (Namcor) and BW Energy Management met with president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah at State House on Wednesday, where they committed to collaborating with the government.

President Nandi-Ndaitwah reaffirmed the government’s dedication to working with the private sector to promote economic recovery and address the country’s most urgent issues, particularly those affecting young people.

ReconAfrica chief executive Brian Reinsborough says the company has completed drilling the Kavango West well, in partnership with BW Energy and Namcor.

He says early results indicate a discovery of hydrocarbons and, while it is still early days, the company is pleased with what they are seeing.

Reinsborough adds that a production test is planned in the coming months to assess the oil and gas potential.

“It’s still early, but we are pleased with what we observe in this well. Our plans for this location include returning in a few months to conduct a production test to determine how much oil and gas we can produce for this generation,” he states.

Reinsborough notes that the operational teams in the Kavango West region conducted the well drilling efficiently and safely, adding that the company intends to carry out a production test in the first quarter.

The results will inform future actions, which may include drilling another well.
