Recall Mbuende: Ngurare

Recall Mbuende: Ngurare

SPYL Secretary Elijah Ngurare yesterday called for the head of Namibia’s Ambassador to the United Nations in New York, Dr Kaire Mbuende.

Ngurare said that Mbuende should be ‘recalled and be relieved of his duties so that he can be allowed his constitutional right to actively participate in the political activities of his choice without being a hibernator’. He said Mbuende was not appointed to become a diplomatic tourist and added that Mbuende had failed to perform.Speaking at a joint media briefing with the National Union of Namibian Workers (NUNW), Ngurare was flanked by NUNW Secretary General Evilastus Kaaronda and fellow SPYL leaders Paulus Kapia and Charles Siyauya. The NUNW and SPYL are demanding that come March next year, the only advisors President Hifikepunye Pohamba should have are the Swapo top three below him. They also demanded that the Cabinet Secretariat be stripped off all of its policy responsibilities and only have administrative ones. They also demand that all permanent secretaries, ambassadors, parastatal bosses and board members should be recalled and scrutinised. Ngurare added that the performance of those who ‘pass the test’ must be continuously monitored. He also asked that the Attorney General should study the implications of their recommendations and advise accordingly. If there are laws preventing the recommendations, such laws must be changed because ‘we cannot be held back by laws we can change, as simple as that,’ he said.Ngurare questioned the loyalty of many senior civil servants and said some of them are even refusing to put Swapo flags on their private cars, hiding behind the Public Service Act.
