RDP here to stay: Hamutenya

RDP here to stay: Hamutenya

THE Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP) is here to stay and to bring change in Namibia, party president Hidipo Hamutenya said at Okongo in the Ohangwena Region on Sunday.

He said Swapo has failed to bring real change in Namibia and is now busy cheating and intimidating people.Hamutenya said the RDP is serious about change and if elected to power will try its best not to disappoint Namibians. Hamutenya blamed Swapo for providing bad education and health services, and claimed many areas do not have roads, schools, hospitals, clinics, clean water or electricity. He said corruption is the order of the day in Namibia, for example high-ranking officials using public money to educate their children while the poor have to suffer without education. He vowed to improve the education, health and housing sectors and to distribute water and electricity to all.The RDP secretary for the Ohangwena Region, Timotheus Shikongo, told the rally that Swapo is intimidating and suppressing RDP leaders, members and supporters in the region. ‘The have hoisted their flags all over: on the trees, on the houses, on the ground. They claim everything is theirs and grab everything as they like. Swapo is worse than the Boers,’ Shikongo said. ‘Swapo prevents us to go and campaign in some villages, doing exactly the same as the Boers were doing,’ Shikongo said.He said RDP party flags are being removed from trees and burnt, and party members are beaten up.
