HELPING HAND … Children at different parts of Walvis Bay are helping their parents prevent further water damage to their houses following the heavy rains. Although some schools cancelled attendance on Thursday, some children could not enter their houses due to flooding. Rain wreaks havoc at Swakopmund’s DRC settlement
BRIDGE DAMAGED … A bridge on the Windhoek-Rehoboth road – 30km from Windhoek – has been damaged due to the current heavy rainfall. The Roads Authority urges motorists to exercise extreme caution when approaching this area. “Our teams are currently assessing the extent of the damage. Updates will be provided as the situation develops. We urge all road users to prioritise safety and adhere to any temporary traffic measures in place,” Roads Authority says. “It’s very bad. FLOWING … The Okahandja River flows heavily following nonstop rains countrywide since Wednesday night. No obstructions have been observed at the town so far.
NO FUEL …. Rain water entered the underground tanks at Shell Select at Rehoboth on Thursday morning. The service station is closed for business at the moment.“So far, nine car owners came back to complain about their cars. BREAKING NEWS … City police spokesperson Marcelline Murapo says nine vehicles were washed away by the flowing rivers in Windhoek on Thursday. Murapo further said eight of the vehicles have been rescued while one remains in the flood. The vehicle in the photo was stuck in the Goreangab area. Fortunately, the motorist survived.
