Rabe’s mom proud of her for winning Miss Supranational 2021

MISS Supranational Namibia 2020 Chanique Rabe has brought Namibia more honours after winning this year’s edition of the pageant last night.

Rabe made history as the first Namibian and African to win the title after beating 57 beauties from different parts of the globe.

Other winners were – Miss Puerto Rico, Karla Acevedo (first runner-up), Miss South Africa, Thato Mosehle (second runner-up), Miss Venezuela, Valentina Sanchez (third runner-up) and Miss Dominican Republic, Eoanna Constanz (fourth runner-up).

Rabe was crowned by outgoing Miss Supranational Anntonia Porsild of Thailand.

The grand finale was streamed live on the official social media account of Miss Supranational.

Her mother, Natasha Rabe, speaking from Poland on Sunday morning, said she is proud of Rabe and has been crying ever since she won.

“We are extremely proud of Chani. It is unbelievable. Honestly, I did not think that she would win. She has placed Namibia back on the map in the pageant industry. I attended the finale show and here I had the honour to meet Anntonia from Thailand. During the pageant, I was seated next to her mother. They are very beautiful and humble people. Chani has huge shoes to fill. People must know that the pageant is much more than just a pretty face. Chani has responsibilities for the next 12 months,” she says.

Rabe left the country for Poland on 25 July and the date of her return is not yet set.

“For now, I just know that a team will come to Namibia to help her kick start with her projects,” said Natasha, adding that, “She (Chani) will still be in Poland for a few days and she is also judging the Mister Supranational that will be held this afternoon,” Natasha said.

Miss Supranational is an annual international female beauty pageant that was started in 2009.

Rabe was Miss Teen Namibia and Miss Teen Continents 2015. She holds BA honours degree in fashion and is a fashion designer with her own clothing brand. She is the owner of Junior Sewing School.
